Hello there Olle Bäcklund, PhD student in Business Administration
2025-02-03Olle, could you tell us about your background before joining Karlstad Business School and the Service Research Center (CTF)?
– I have a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management from Karlstad Business School, where I studied the master's program in Innovation and Service Development. During my time at Karlstad Business School, I also taught mathematics to first-year students, which was both fun and educational. I have also been an exchange student in Austria, which gave me perspectives on education and research in an international context.
Tell us about the research you will be conducting
– My research will focus on the circular economy and the development of circular business models, with an emphasis on how these can support a sustainable transition for companies. I will investigate how customer behaviors and service design can help companies transition from linear to circular practices more easily. The goal is to combine insights from companies and customers to develop solutions that are both sustainable and feasible.
Will you be teaching?
– It is not entirely certain to what extent I will be teaching, but if it becomes relevant, I look forward to sharing knowledge and inspiring students, especially in areas such as service design, sustainability, and innovation.
What are your expectations of working at the School of Business and CTF?
– I look forward to working in an environment with high competence and dedicated colleagues. Karlstad Business School and CTF offer exciting opportunities for collaboration with industry and other universities, which was a major reason for me to apply here. I hope to contribute new perspectives while learning a lot through collaborations and research projects.
Tell us briefly about yourself
– I was born and raised in Örebro but have lived in Karlstad for several years. I train quite a bit, and right now my focus is on preparing for the Vasaloppet. I also enjoy downhill skiing, hiking, and running. Music has been a big part of my life, and I have played drums for many years. I have always thrived in an academic environment where I can combine my curiosity for research with my interest in reading, writing, and discussing ideas. Therefore, doctoral studies feel like a natural next step for me.
