Karlstad University Global Scholarship
The Karlstad University Global Scholarship supports top academic students from outside the European Union, European Economic Area, and Switzerland who are required to pay tuition fees for their studies. This scholarship can cover 25%, 50%, 75%, or even 100% of tuition fees, but it does not include living expenses. It is important to note that applicants must demonstrate financial capability to cover living expenses when applying for a residence permit. Detailed requirements for this can be found on the Swedish Migration Board website.
Applications for the 2025 scholarship period will be accepted from 21 March to 6 April 2025. To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must first receive an offer of admission to a programme starting in the fall semester and ensure that the application fee has been paid unless an exemption applies. Late applications will not be accepted, so it is crucial to submit before the deadline.
Eligibility criteria
To qualify for the Karlstad University Global Scholarship, applicants must be from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland and must have an admission offer for a programme starting in the fall. The scholarship is not available to those who have lived in Sweden for more than two years when the scholarship period begins, hold a permanent residence or work permit in Sweden, or already possess a master's degree from a Swedish university. Additionally, students who have received scholarships from the Swedish Institute or other Swedish institutions are not eligible.
Application Process
Before applying for the scholarship, ensure that you have secured admission to Karlstad University. The scholarship application period opens on 21 March 2025 and closes on 6 April 2025. Applications must be completed using the link provided on the university’s official website, and only applications received within this timeframe will be considered.
Scholarship conditions
The Karlstad University Global Scholarship is specific to the programme for which it is awarded. If a student defers their admission to the next academic year, the scholarship offer will become invalid. Similarly, changing programmes after receiving a scholarship may result in the loss of the scholarship. Scholarship holders are informed of the exact percentage covered—whether 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100%—in their award notification. This amount is directly deducted from the tuition fees.
