Welcome to the ASLA 2018 symposium!
The biennial symposium of the Swedish Association of Applied Linguistics (ASLA) will take place on April 12–13, 2018, at Karlstad University. The symposium is co-organized by the Center for Language and Literature in Education (CSL) and the Department of Language, Literature, and Intercultural Studies (ISLI).
The 2018 symposium theme is “Classroom research and language/languaging”.
Bridget Kane, PhD, has pursued research within Health Informatics and CSCW at Trinity College and St. James Hospital in Dublin. During the spring 2016 she will help students who write HCI theses in English. She will also contribute to the master course Models and Methods for Multimedia Development. She has a post-graduate diploma in Statistics and will assist in the research education during this spring.

Johan Högberg, Ph D Student in Psychology, will conduct his research within the field of Transformative Service Research with Professor Per Kristensson as main supervisor.
Studies in Geography can be combined in productive ways with most other subjects ranging from natural science and technology to social science and the humanities. It is possible to take 120 credits of Geography at Karlstad University.
The Psychology programme includes basic training in psychotherapy and psychological treatment, specialised in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic Therapy (PDT). Student therapists who are about to finish the Psychology Programme offer therapy sessions as part of their training and under supervision.
As part of the Psychology Programme, we offer free psychotherapy to persons with limited problems.
The purpose of Health Data Sweden (HDS) is to increase the use of health data within small and medium-sized companies and public organizations.
- HDS must offer services such as available data, legal issues and skills development, says Karin Brodén.

This study, financed by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, MSB examines the questions of if and how Swedish municipalities has used the possibility of activating their crisis management council as a consequence of the Corona-pandemic.

Fredrik Wikström is a newly appointed professor of Energy and Environmental Technology. He conducts research on how packaging can contribute to a sustainable development where less food is wasted. In recent years, this research has been praised and received attention in the media.
Fredrik Wikström holds a Degree of Bachelor of Science in Physics at Uppsala University and received his PhD in Systems Ecology from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.
