Finding Open Education Resources
The library indexes many open journals and books in its OneSearch discovery system, but open scientific material can be found in several different ways. Here we list a selection of search engines and portals.
Swedish scientific material
- DiVA
DiVA portal is a finding tool and an institutional repository for research publications and student theses written at 50 universities and research institutions. - Kriterium
Kriterium is a portal for review, publication and dissemination of high-quality academic books, in accordance with the principles for open access - Swepub
Swepub makes it possible to search among articles, conference papers, dissertations etc. published at Swedish universities and authorities.
Search engines and databases
- BASE
Base is a German search engine especially for academic web resources. BASE provides over 240 million documents, of which about 60% are openly available. - Core
CORE is a British database that hosts the world’s largest collection of open access full texts with over 210 million documents. - Dimensions
Dimensions is a multidisciplinary database with references to articles, book chapters, conference proceedings and monographs. The database includes altmetrics data and citation analysis. Many of the articles are available as open access. The database is free for personal use. - Google Scholar
Google Scholar is a search engine for scholary literature. It contains both open and locked material. - OpenAIRE
The OpenAIRE portal is funded by the European Commission and collects data from European and international publication archives. The portal has an open access database with about 10 million open publications and datasets.

- DOAB
Directory of Open Access Books DOAB is a community-driven discovery service that indexes and provides access to scholarly, peer-reviewed open access books. Books can be searched or browsed by subject. - DOAJ
DOAJ is a large directory of high quality, open access, peer-reviewed journals. Currently it indexes and provides access to over 16 500 journals. - OAPEN
OAPEN is a repository fo Open Access books containing more than 16 000 academic titles mostly in humanities and social sciences - Open Textbook Library
the Open Textbook Library is a comprehensive referatory that points to open textbooks by a variety of authors and publishers.Most of the books have a CC-license. - Publisher platforms
Many book publishers have their own platforms where you can find both licensed and open material. - Teaching commons
