A letter of admission indicating the courses to which you have been admitted, will be issued by www.universityadmissions.se.
You will be notified by e-mail from universityadmissions.se at the end of March or in mid-July for the autumn semester, depending on when you submitted your application, and mid-December for the spring semester.
Academic Celebration 2023 will be celebrated on 20 October in Aula Magna at Karlstad University. All professors and honorary doctors are presented at Karlstad CCC in the morning and installed and promoted at the ceremony in the afternoon.

ORIENTATION DAYS FOR ALL INCOMING INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS BEFORE THE SEMESTER STARTS
All incoming international students, both exchange and non-exchange students, are welcome to start the semester with the orientation days at Karlstad University one week before the semester starts. During these days, you will get important practical information about studying at Karlstad University and also information about the Swedish society.
Patricia Saenz Mendez came to Karlstad University in 2020, in the midst on the pandemic. A rather strange start, but as a newly appointed docent in chemistry, she feels that she is in exactly the right place.
- I completed my PhD in Uruguay and after that I ended up in Sweden. Before Karlstad University, I was a postdoc at KTH and Örebro University, as well as at University of Gothenburg for a short period, says Patricia Saenz Mendez.

The total number of programme applicants has increased by eight per cent for the autumn semester 2024. There is also a nine per cent increase in first choice applicants.
The Behavioural Science Programme is among the top ten degree programmes at Karlstad University, which is a newly established programme at the university. The programme attracted 873 applicants, of which 116 are first choice applicants.

The policy of Horizon Europe is that all funded projects are required to adhere to open access publication and open data, following the principle “as open as possible and as closed as necessary”.

After you have been notified of your exchange place placement, phase 2 of the process begins where you apply to your exchange university. In connection with the placement notice, you will be invited to an information meeting where you will be given an overview of the steps ahead.
Nomination
When you have accepted your placement, Karlstad University will nominate you to your host university.
Anna Jansson jumped in at the deep end. She has lived in Germany and Ireland, and for the last four years she has called San Francisco home. She started by taking freestanding courses at Karlstad University and today she is brand marketing manager at Google.
WHAT DID YOU STUDY AT KARLSTAD?
I studied at Karlstad University from 2002 to 2006. I took freestanding courses in English and media and communications for two years, before studying business administration and law.
The Magna Charta Universitatum is an international charter on the academic freedom and institutional autonomy of universities. Karlstad University has now signed the new, updated version.
– Signing the charter shows that Karlstad University supports the key principles of, among other things, academic freedom, autonomy and equality. We value the importance of freedom in research and education, and international mobility.

You must have successfully completed a programme of study in a relevant discipline at the bachelor’s level or equivalent.

The Vice-Chancellor and the Pro-Vice-Chancellor operate directly under the Board. The Vice-Chancellor’s executive team also includes the University Director.
As part of the university’s systematic quality assurance efforts, eight third-cycle subject areas (doctoral-level disciplines) have been reviewed by an external assessment group. All of them are rated as meeting a high standard in the report by the assessment group.
The discipline of nursing received a positive assessment of their doctoral education.

Lennart Andersson was Vice-Chancellor of Karlstad University College and Professor of Human Geography. When Lennart Andersson retired in 1994, a foundation was established in his honour to fund an annual seminar. The foundation was intended to make it possible to invite prominent researchers in Lennart Andersson’s own field, Human Geography. The seminar was going to be open for everyone.
Karlstad university has been at the forefront in climate- and public-related safety research for many years. In a dynamically changing society, however, risk and safety issues need to be seen in a larger context.
