Many companies need to start focusing more on the customers to become more innovative and successful. What are the market needs? What does the customer want, and how can we facilitate for the customer?
All doctoral students are appointed at least two supervisors in connection with their admission to the doctoral programme who will provide help and support during the education period up to the thesis defence and graduation.
SUPERVISION
New doctoral students shall be appointed a main supervisor and at least one assistant supervisor and at least one of them must have completed supervisor training.

What do you do for a living today?
- I work as a consultant at AF and I have been primarily working as the Systems Compliance coordinator there. That means making sure that the systems ÅF uses are adjusted and follow the new General Data Protection Regulation.

In order to ensure that our educations are well adapted to the needs of the labor market, we regularly follow up the alumni who have graduated from the School of Business and Economics.
During the years 2017-2023, 3065 people graduated from the Business School. Of these, 39 percent were men and 61 percent women.
The form is intended to clarify the roles and responsibilities in any future project for which a funding application is submitted. The Form for external funded projects is created within the financial system Raindance.
Ala Sarah Alaqra defended a dissertation in Computer Science on human factors within privacy-enhancing technologies at the end of January, and a few days later Ala began a new employment in Information Systems at the Karlstad Business School.
Jaime Ortega Gutiérrez, associate professor in Marketing at the University of Seville, has been visiting CTF for three months to get to know CTF and meet with the researchers.
Hello Jaime, can you tell us about your research?
– My research areas include value co-creation, social networking, service innovation, and knowledge management within the service sector specifically in tourism.
The reasons for embarking on a research career are probably as many as there are researchers. A wish to know more is probably a common incentive.
Research programmes at Karlstad University are designed for those who want to achieve expertise in an area of specialisation.

This project aims at fostering capacity building in the field of Smart Grids by the development of a harmonized, modular curriculum. The selection of partner countries considers the different stages of a technology transfer in the field of Smart Grid in Africa to be able to use synergies.

Margareta Friman, Professor of Psychology at CTF, Service Research Center at Karlstad University, will be a new Pro-Vice-Chancellor at Karlstad University.

Lucia Casap, presently PhD student at Academy of Economic Sciences of Moldova, and about to start as Operations Officer at the World Bank in Moldova, will speak about the educational support by World Bank in her country, and about her research on the development of an Educational Management Information System.
June 1: Lucia has continued her studies on EMIS and has also continued her interviews here in Sweden.

- The Business School and Karlstad University's international office participated in the conference together with 7,300 representatives from universities around the world.
- This year's theme was "En Route". From Sweden, nine other universities from all over the country participated to market Sweden as a study destination.

Ingo Karpen, given it’s the second time you receive this prestigious award, why has your research drawn such interest do you think?
KLF Karlstad Lean Factory® - A regional laboratory for Lean Production at Karlstad University, Sweden.
Karlstad University has designed and built a unique training environment for Lean Production. The laboratory consists of a flexible full-scale physical simulation environment. Apart from being a training facility, it is a meeting place for regional companies and academia, creating opportunities for organization and realization of efficient knowledge transfer.
Organizations use idea screening to select which ideas to develop into innovation projects. The question is how do experts decide if an idea is good? It is a complex interplay of intuition, analysis and sensemaking, according to a new study from CTF, Center for Service Research at Karlstad University.
The researchers have mapped and analyzed activities that expert evaluators use to screen ideas, and how these activities are used to identify ideas of high quality.
Students, alumni and representatives of local IT companies participated in the Karlstad Programming Contest, held on 6 October. At the end of the contest, team Bug Repellent, with Dan Wolff from Altran, Marcus Söder from Sogeti, and Niclas Fredriksson, computer science student at Karlstad University, emerged as winners with four solved tasks.
