All doctoral students are appointed at least two supervisors in connection with their admission to the doctoral programme who will provide help and support during the education period up to the thesis defence and graduation. SUPERVISION New doctoral students shall be appointed a main supervisor and at least one assistant supervisor and at least one of them must have completed supervisor training.

In order to ensure that our educations are well adapted to the needs of the labor market, we regularly follow up the alumni who have graduated from the School of Business and Economics. During the years 2017-2023, 3065 people graduated from the Business School. Of these, 39 percent were men and 61 percent women.
Ala Sarah Alaqra defended a dissertation in Computer Science on human factors within privacy-enhancing technologies at the end of January, and a few days later Ala began a new employment in Information Systems at the Karlstad Business School.

This project aims at fostering capacity building in the field of Smart Grids by the development of a harmonized, modular curriculum. The selection of partner countries considers the different stages of a technology transfer in the field of Smart Grid in Africa to be able to use synergies. In Tanzania, the provision of reliable and affordable energy to consumers is listed as one important goal to ensure growth and reduction of poverty.

KLF Karlstad Lean Factory® - A regional laboratory for Lean Production at Karlstad University, Sweden. Karlstad University has designed and built a unique training environment for Lean Production. The laboratory consists of a flexible full-scale physical simulation environment. Apart from being a training facility, it is a meeting place for regional companies and academia, creating opportunities for organization and realization of efficient knowledge transfer.
Organizations use idea screening to select which ideas to develop into innovation projects. The question is how do experts decide if an idea is good? It is a complex interplay of intuition, analysis and sensemaking, according to a new study from CTF, Center for Service Research at Karlstad University. The researchers have mapped and analyzed activities that expert evaluators use to screen ideas, and how these activities are used to identify ideas of high quality.
Students, alumni and representatives of local IT companies participated in the Karlstad Programming Contest, held on 6 October. At the end of the contest, team Bug Repellent, with Dan Wolff from Altran, Marcus Söder from Sogeti, and Niclas Fredriksson, computer science student at Karlstad University, emerged as winners with four solved tasks. "It was really fun to participate," says Marcus Söder from Sogeti.
