Teaching and learning in higher education

The Pedagogical Development Unit, which forms part of the HR Office, provides active professional support to Karlstad University’s teaching staff. We for example assist in the development of educational design through flexible teaching and assessment formats.

Management training

We regularly offers the course Curious about leadership to staff who are interested in leadership and management positions at Karlstad University. The course includes aspects such as personal leadership, the role of the employer, difficult conversations and communication.

Grants and innovations Office

The Grants and Innovation Office (GIO) provides support to researchers, financial advisors and research administrators, focusing on expert support in the area of research funding applications. GIO also includes innovation advisors who provides support in the utilisation or commercialisation of research results.

Further qualifications

Providing the opportunity for formal recognition based on teaching expertise forms part of the university’s efforts to highlight and support pedagogical skills development. Applications for recognition are submitted to either the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences or to the Faculty of Health, Science and Technology. 

International staff exchange

Karlstad University staff can apply for international staff exchanges as part of the exchange programmes the university participates in. During an exchange, staff members discover new environments and exchange experiences with colleagues from all over the world.
