You get access to talking books by contacting the library's contact persons. They will give you an account to MTM's catalogue Legimus and also teach you how to download and read talking books.

Students with special needs have the right to study support to help complete their studies. Karlstad University offers help with note-taking, alternative examination formats and a special resource room, among other things.

Schools and preschools in Sweden are culturally diverse arenas, with more than a quarter of children in Sweden having immigrant backgrounds (Statistiska Centralbyrån, 2017). The Swedish preschool curriculum acknowledges the importance of responsivity to culturally and linguistically diverse children and families. Thus, graduate teachers need to be equipped to work children and families from ethnically and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
Karlstad University is the only Swedish university participating in a new large European research and innovation project under Horizon 2020. The aim of the project is to enhance cybersecurity skills in Europe.

... PhD student in Business Administration. Can you tell us about your research?
I focus on service innovation in healthcare, how to change to better and more efficient healthcare processes. I look at different types of innovations and their effects on hospitals and healthcare clinics, for example, how patients and healthcare staff are affected and cost-efficiency.
Applicants to main instrument or vocals in open genre are required to partake in the local entrance test (L-test) by submitting videos according to the instructions below.
You are also expected to partake in a zoom-interview, to talk about your musical orientation. The interview takes place April 30th and is not part of testing.
Open genre welcomes applicants who make music outside of the three areas we call Folk Music, Classical Music or Jazz.

Contemporary global queer politics is haunted by colonial legacies. In the 19th century, European imperialists viewed the imposition of heteronormative ideals, through e.g. colonial sodomy bans, as a way to modernize “savages” and root out pre- colonial forms of gender dissent and same-sex desire in Africa, Asia and the Americas.

What is your current occupation?
"I've been working as an HR partner at NCC since 2017. It's an exciting assignment and I have the overriding HR responsibility for our region Civil Middle (Värmland, Örebro, Västmanland & Sörmland) with around 300 employees. I have the privilege of supporting all heads on staff issues and work with our management team to develop our operations.
Why did you choose to study the Master programme in working life studies?
This January, two students from the Cooperative State University in Stuttgart (DHBW-Stuttgart), Fabian Jaskotka and Kai Langenekert, joined the Usability Lab at Karlstad University. Fabian, from Hamburg, and Kai, from Backnang, have never been to Sweden before.

Students at Karlstad University now have access to the AI tool Microsoft Copilot.
With Copilot, you can utilize a chat function to assist with various tasks, including generating text and images, analyzing data, summarizing documents, writing code, and much more. However, be aware of certain limitations in today’s AI models. Therefore, have a critical approach towards generated information.
The Interpretation Year is a one-year advanced course where you work on developing your artistic and professional abilities. This course is an additional year aimed at those who already have a bachelor's degree in music but wish to pursue further studies towards a professional career as a musician. During the course, you can develop your skills in preparing for public concerts and video recordings.

At the department of Chemical Engineering, Karlstad University, we have a strong research environment around forest products and processes. We are performing research of how pulp and paper should be manufactured and of how the paper should be coated and printed.
About 10 doctoral students are enrolled in our extensive postgraduate programme, half of them being employed directly by the industry.
