The Uses of Late Style in Works of Leonard Cohen, Jonny Cash and Dolly Parton
This project was conducted by KuFo-researcher Anna Forssberg.
Based on Adorno’s theories on Late Style (Adorno 1937) this project focuses on Leonard Cohen’s last album, You want it darker (2016), as a Late Style model and compare it with Jonny Cash’s Unearthed ( a box with 5 CDs, 2003), and Dolly Parton’s production after her blue grass peak (from 2003 and onwards).

– We based the course on the idea that students need to practise their communication skills in a variety of situations that they will encounter in life, says John Johansson.

On behalf of the Swedish government, the National Library of Sweden (Kungliga biblioteket, KB) has recently developed national guidelines for open science, including a section on Open Educational Resources (OER).
The national guidelines are intended to provide support and guidance to actors in Sweden who have an important role to play in the transition to open science.
The university library can assist researchers in monitoring developments in their fields. Please contact the library if you would like to receive more information about any other topics.
Evaluating journals
JCR (Journal Citation Report) evaluates academic journals based on their number of citations and calculates impact factors for journals.
Digitalisation of teaching is a very broad field that touches on many subjects and spans across all stages of education. Collectively, we have much expertise in this area at Karlstad University, which gives us a unique scope. The scope of research in this area is closely connected to both teacher training and school practice.
In the project PERUPP, AI will be fed with offers from actors in the tourism industry to enhance the Värmland experience.
– We want to take advantage of AI technology, says Siri Jagstedt, project leader of one of the work packages.
The modern person wants to have more personal and tailored experiences rather than one-size-fits-all.

I would like to start by saying thank you for the warm welcome I have received during my first weeks at Karlstad University. I have already met several of you and I look forward to more meetings in the day-to-day operations.
I enjoy meetings, both planned and spontaneous. It might come as a surprise that someone from management would utter such a thing, given the number of meetings I have attended over the years and the likelihood of a very busy schedule ahead.

Computer Science at Karlstad University is co-organizing The International Teletraffic Congress ITC 30, to be held September 3-7, 2018, at the University of Vienna, Austria. It is the 30th edition of this international flagship congress in the field of networking science and practice.
ITC was founded back in 1955 by enthusiastic scientists and engineers who were willing to deploy networks in a holistic way.
Johanna Frykberger and Sofie Bäck from the Law Programme won second place at the national final, held at the Supreme Court.
On 5 May, the national final of the Swedish Legal Championship was held at the Supreme Court.

Drivhuset helps students realize their ideas by offering education, networks and coaching. The first Drivhuset started in Karlstad and is now active in 14 places throughout Sweden.
Drivhuset (The Greenhouse) supports students at the University on their way to a viable enterprise. The goal is to create a positive attitude to entrepreneurship and get more students interested in realizing their ideas.

Do you want to work as a teacher in physical education and health or as a coach, leader, or consultant in the sports and health-related field? Then we have the education for you!
Sports Science with a didactic focus can be applied for by those admitted to the subject teacher program and who meet the eligibility requirements. The education provides the qualification to teach physical education and health at the high school level or grades 7-9.
ITQ is the network for girls studying IT at the university and practitioners in the IT-sector. The purpose with ITQ is to show the breadth in our educations and to highlight examples of possible professional roles.
On December 8th, the annual ITQ-bowling took place – an evening where the idea is that girls from all our IT-educations and business representatives can meet and socialise.
