Vinnova, Formas and the Swedish Energy Agency say yes to funding for SustainGov, where Samhällsnytta at Karlstad University is one of the partners.

Swedish pupils need support to fully understand what they read online. They often have great knowledge and abilities, but must be given tools to interpret texts in a digital environment. These are the findings of new research at Karlstad University.

Erasmus + is the European Union's education, youth and sport program for the years 2014 to 2020.
Through the program, preschools, schools, universities, vocational and adult education, municipalities, recreation centers and non-profit organizations in Sweden can apply for funds to carry out collaborations and exchanges with organizations in other countries.
At the end of the spring term, Karlstad Student Union took the opportunity to surprise some members of the teaching staff that students wished to pay special tribute to. "Celebrate a teacher" was the name of the campaign running during the spring semester and on 19 June the result was announced on the student union Instagram.
Individual students as well as societies had been invited to nominate candidates via videos published on the student union Instagram.

For the second year runnig, Karlstad hosted the Bioeconomy Day on March 21-22. Leading industry and organisations, key stakeholders and policy makers from Sweden and Norway gathered. Researchers from CRS, Karlstad University, were also among the participants.
This year's Bioeconomy Day contained a mix of seminars, discussions and conversations between expertise from industry and politicians at all levels.
At Karlstad University the subject English can be studied at all university levels, and can be the main field of study for a Bachelor’s degree, a Master’ degree (60 or 120 ECTS credits) and a Doctor’s degree.
English is also included or can be included in all the current teacher degrees.
On 13–14 June, Karlstad University hosts Framtidens Lärande Väst (Future Learning West). The event is fully booked, which means that more than 2,000 people will be attending. Note: We recommend that you bring your own lunch box and that you bear in mind that the parking area might be busy. Two rows of the parking area north of the library are reserved for the 2-day event.

Digital examinations are a part of a number of courses at Karlstad University. You will receive more information from teaching staff if your courses are examined digitally. Students complete digital exams on their own computers, or on computers borrowed for this purpose.
As a student, you are responsible for preparing for writing a digital exam.
For a short period, we will have 2 different systems in which we will do digital exams.
Schools and preschools in Sweden are culturally diverse arenas, with more than a quarter of children in Sweden having immigrant backgrounds (Statistiska Centralbyrån, 2017). The Swedish preschool curriculum acknowledges the importance of responsivity to culturally and linguistically diverse children and families. Thus, graduate teachers need to be equipped to work children and families from ethnically and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Rasmus Dahlberg, a computer engineering student at Karlstad University, had a summer job at the university a few months ago. This has now led to his participation in an international conference on secure IT systems.

From 1 January 2017, Reine Lundin has been the new Dean of the Faculty of Health, Science and Technology at Karlstad University, and has subsequently also taken the role as chairperson of the management group for the research profile HITS (high-quality network services in a mobile world).
