Per Hurtig and Johan Garcia have developed a software for deterministic emulation, which was recently presented at the conference Netdev 1.1 in Seville and attracted favorable attention. Several conference participants said that deterministic emulation would be useful to them.

Henryk, could you briefly tell us about your background before joining Karlstad Business School and the Service Research Center (CTF)?
– I have over 20 years of work experience from Lodz in Poland, New York, Stockholm, and London, with over ten years dedicated to service design.
Seminar materials are normally distributed via the KuFo and ISLI mailing lists. Anyone not reached by these lists should feel free to contact us – our seminars and other events are open to anyone who is interested!
Until further notice, seminars and workshops will be in Zoom unless otherwise advertised.
Education should be based on a scientific foundation and proven experience. This constitutes one of the cornerstones in the Higher Education Act (SFS, 1992:1434, 1 chapter §2) as well as in the Education Act (SFS, 2010:800, 1 chapter §5). However, the exact meanings of these concepts are not always clear and are interpreted differently by professionals (Bergmark & Hansson, 2021). During practicum periods, students encounter and develop proven experience.
The schedule is continually updated and subject to change. Seminar materials are normally distributed via the KuFo and ISLI mailing lists. Anyone not reached by these lists should feel free to contact us.

Civil society's (new?) roles in combating homelessness: a follow-up study.
The project aims to enhance our understanding of the roles of civil society in the field of homelessness during the 2020s and whether and how these roles have changed since the late 1990s. The empirical study consists of interviews with representatives of civil society organizations working in the field of homelessness in Stockholm and Gothenburg, supplemented with relevant documents.
Sustainable development, democracy and equity are topical issues. Students in the social sciences and humanities develop knowledge and skills to deal with such issues and to implement useful ideas.
Such abilities will be even more valued with an increasingly internationalised and borderless world. At the same time local issues grow in importance for the individual, who wants to live, work and exert influence on the local community.
Additive manufacturing (AM) is an emerging technology enabling sustainable manufacturing and digital industrial transformation. AM methods do open doors to the design and synthesis of new materials having chemical compositions and phases that are impossible in conventional materials.
Interreg Sweden-Norway
The overall objective of BioSirk is to strengthen the Sweden-Norway border region's knowledge and expertise through contact between research, education and business. Thematic areas are:
wood for and in constructions, products and services
packaging development
life cycle optimized processes for value creation with wood materials.
BioSirk is an Interreg Sweden-Norway Project, sub-area Inner Scandinavia.
Seminar materials are normally distributed via the KuFo and ISLI mailing lists. Anyone not reached by these lists should feel free to contact us.

CMM - Characterizing and modeling of materials – from nano to macro
The overall goal in materials research is to improve the performance of the materials.
Applied welfare studies focus on practice-relevant and practice-oriented research. We conduct studies on living conditions and health for various groups, as well as studies on user involvement and practical social work. The aim is to contribute to knowledge-based social and psychosocial work in social services, healthcare, and schools.
We work interdisciplinary with both qualitative and quantitative methods.
The EMER network arranges their second workshop 9-10 februari 2023. This workshop will be fully online and is organised by the University of Jyväskylä.
The word cooperation means that several different parties work together. It is interesting to determine what the interaction between research, industry and public services can lead to.
Our vision is to contribute to a sustainable future, where less food is wasted and packaging are designed, bought and used with the intention to minimize the environmental impact associated with the whole life-cycle of the product in mind.
To achieve this, we need more knowledge about how packaging attributes interact with human needs of different kinds, life-cycle estimations about how much packaging material that can be motivated from an environmental point of view to
In the study ”Managing the Complexity of Green Innovation” authors Andrey Abadzhiev, Alexandre Sukhov, Antti Sihvonen and Mikael Johnson have examined how this complexity can be managed by analyzing how individual companies combine different innovation activities to develop green innovation, and how companies along the value chain align to implement these innovations.
Green innovation can promote both environmental sustainability and economic growth.
