On December 17, 2010, Mohamed Bouazizi, a Tunisian street vendor, set himself on fire as a protest against the autocratic regimes in his Arab country. Bouazizi’s act was captured on film and quickly spread throughout the world. The images and film clips of Bouazizi triggered protests and demonstrations against regimes in other Arab countries. Bouazizi set in motion an uprising against Arab regimes that is known as the Arab Spring.

The course Information retrieval and publishing strategies 3ECTS is catered for PhD students who are in the beginning of their research career, and want to learn more about information seeking for research purposes, reference management, copyright issues, open access and publishing strategies.
Prerequisites: Admitted to PhD studies at Karlstad UniversityMaximum number of participants: 24.
My research area is about social and gender aspects of community planning. I want to understand how (national) political policies leads to practical activities, and how this is accepted and experienced by the ones affected by the arrangements. This also includes trying to understand how to work locally for a social sustainable development.
