As of the spring of 2020, there have been some changes in UPE’s range of courses and working strategy regarding competence development for university teachers. The change aims at achieving more flexibility.
It will allow more flexible competence development based on the needs and current work situation of the individual teacher.

- The conference theme was “visual sovereignty”, which includes ways for indigenous communities around the world to have ownership and control of for instance materials and photo archives that depict their history, culture, language, and identity.

On May 15, 2025, the annual Geomedia Day was held at Elite Stadshotellet in Karlstad. A full day of insightful discussions, research presentations and creative collaboration.
André Jansson opened the event with a welcome address, followed by an update on the upcoming 2025 Geomedia conference from Georgia Aitaki.
The morning continued with a workshop session focusing on the Geomedia Panel data.

Access Norstedts dictionaries both online and offline
The library provides access to several dictionaries through the portal WordFinder. With WordFinder Online, you can access your dictionaries via a web browser.
If you create a free personal account you will be able to download programs and apps. The account must be created while you are on campus.

On Wednesday 15 February it is time for the job fair Hotspot. Throughout the day, a number of parking spaces north of the University Library will be reserved for the exhibitors of the fair.
Special parking permits will be used on the day to ensure that only exhibitors park their cars there.

Sweden’s handling of the Covid-19 pandemic stands out in many ways compared to other countries. One of the most obvious is the method of implementing interventions. Specifically, the Swedish strategy is based on recommending its citizens to act in a certain way and trusting them to follow these recommendations.
...you have recently spent a week in Croatia on an Erasmus exchange. What did you do there?
- I have been at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER) at the University of Zagreb. This is the most prestigious university and engineering faculty in Croatia. I was there for one week on Erasmus teaching mission. I held lectures in two courses, gave student consultations for master and PhD students and I held a research colloquium.
Practical placements form an important part of the Master of Science in Psychology Programme. Students are out on their practical placements during semester 6 for 14 weeks.
Practical placements are hosted by public or private organisations employing psychologists. All psychology students will be supervised by a licenced psychologist during their practical placements and the university offers practical and pedagogical support to supervisors.
We are happy to welcome Hugo Guyader to CTF. He will be working with professors Margareta Friman and Lars E Olsson in a research project on shared mobility, and will develop a survey for users of a Swedish ride sharing platform.

Jan Ch Karlsson, Professor of Working Life Science at Karlstad Business School, and his German colleague and collaboration partner have been given an award for their article “Towards a Sociology of Meaningful Work”.
– Work that includes a lot of negative stress or rigid hierarchies is actually lethal, says Jan Ch Karlsson.
Why is research about meaningful work so important?
– Most people spend a large portion of their lives and their waking hours working.
