Alongside the various History courses (History I-IV), there are several related modules in subject-specific education. In addition, History III offers a literature pedagogy course. For teaching students, subject-specific education is part of the practical teacher training programme. What is History Education? In general terms, the subject matter of history didactics/pedagogy is how we relate to history.
Intercultural Studies offers a wide range of courses focusing on different aspects of intercultural society and the philosophical traditions of the subject. Courses are taught in Swedish and English, and offered as distance or on-campus courses, full-time or part-time. At Karlstad University, students can choose intercultural studies as the main field of study in a Degree of Bachelor of Arts.

TELL-ability is a research project funded by the Swedish Research Council (dnr 2022-02920) conducted at Karlstad University by Erica Sandlund, Birgitta Ljung Egeland, Silivia Kunitz and Christina Olin-Scheller during 2023-2025. The telling and sharing of stories have long been viewed as central to human experience, memory, and imagination.

Christina Olin-Scheller is a professor in Educational Work and temporarily a professor at Contemporary Literature, Karlstad University. She is head of the centre formation Centre for Language- and Literary Didactics (CSL) and the strong subject didactic research group Research on Subject-specific Education (ROSE). Olin-Scheller's field of research is reading education and young persons reading and writing in correlation to inter-sectional perspectives in today's media landscape.

Marie Karlsson Tuula was born in 1961 and grew up in Malmö. When she was twenty she moved to Stockholm to study. She was accepted to law school in 1983 and completed her Bachelor degree in 1987. In addition to law, Marie Karlsson Tuula took a number of courses in European processes, business economics and criminology, and completed her apprenticeship at the then Mölndal District Court.

Research on organic solar cells has been conducted for a long time. Recent advancements in understanding their molecular structures are now paving the way for the development of highly efficient solar cells. – By using atomic force microscopy-infrared spectroscopy, AFM-IR, we’ve been able to create clearer images of the morphology or structure of the material, says Ishita Jalan, postdoc in physical chemistry and main author of a recently published scientific article.

Researchers at CTF have been granted 5.3 million SEK for research on energy-efficient commuting. The main financer of the project is the Swedish Energy Agency. In the project, researchers Lars E. Olsson and Margareta Friman both active at CTF, Service Research Center and Samot, The Service and Market Oriented Transport Research Group at Karlstad University, will develop new knowledge and methods for energy-efficient travel.

It is sometimes said that we live in a media society. What does that really mean? What role is played by the media in our lives? Why does media content look the way it does? How do we use the media – in our private lives and at work? And how do the media actually influence our view of the world and of ourselves? These are some of the questions that we try to answer in Media and Communication Studies.
In this workshop we focus on how to explore data in Nvivo in terms of visualizing it through various diagrams and figures as well as in terms of utilizing so called queries. In other words, the workshop aims to show a number of features available in Nvivo that helps to perform certain kinds of analyses. For example, we show how to work with coding queries where we can ‘cut through’ and ‘across’ a coded dataset by combining codes, cases and sources.
