People who are successful in their fields often owe their success to some kind of mentor – someone who has not only guided and encouraged their skills but also their personalities. You can also become a mentor to a student.
Mentorship is a relationship for development and learning, a tool to stimulate professional and personal development. Mentorship involves two persons – a mentor and a novice – who meet regularly to develop together.
Two Bachelor thesis-students have gotten abstracts accepted to the student conference RAMI Healthcare Informatics in Dublin and one thesis student at B level is working in a research project at Trinity College in Dublin during the summer.
Linn Asmussen and Marina Andersson Nyrén who studies the programme Web and Multimedia at Karlstad University have been accepted to do abstract presentations on the student conference RAMI Healthcare Informatics, June 17th in Dublin.

Students with special needs have the right to study support to help complete their studies. Karlstad University offers help with note-taking, alternative examination formats and a special resource room, among other things.
Students with special needs who are enrolled at Karlstad University should contact the coordinators of disability study support by their common e-mail studentstod@kau.se.
Karlstad University help all exchange students from partner universities with accommodation.
All rooms are furnished and have their own toilet and shower. Shared kitchen is standard. More information will be given together with the application information in October/March.

Students at Karlstad University have access to the AI tool Microsoft Copilot.
Copilot allows you to use a chat function that can help generate text and images, analyse data, summarise documents, write code, and much more.
However, be aware of certain limitations in today’s AI models. It is also important not to use the tool to cheat – a critical approach and honesty are crucial for using AI responsibly.
AI tools are not always permitted aids during exams.

Would you like to help a fellow student with study planning, structure, and coaching? Become a mentor! It is a paid assignment that will require approximately an hour a week of your time.
WHY?
For many students, the support of a mentor in higher education is a prerequisite for successfully completing their studies. Mentorship in the context of special educational support means supporting students with special needs to plan and structure their studies.
The fall semester 2020 can start with campus teaching for new students on programs, has the Vice Chancellor Johan Sterte decided. Elements that are crucial for student progression and must be implemented on campus, will also be prioritized.
But the start this fall will not be quite as usual.

During the fall of 2013, students on the course ISGC16 "Usability testing, prototyping and evaluation" were asked to evaluate "My Page" at Karlstad University's website through user tests. "My Page" was tested in two iterations with 30 students users.
"My Page" provides features for students such as course registration, sign up for exams, and exam results.

The campaign is the initiative of the Karlstad Student Union, Karlstad University and the Värmland County Council.
