WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND? WHERE ARE YOU FROM, AND WHAT DID YOU STUDY BEFORE STARTING THE MASTER'S PROGRAM?
– My name is William Granberg, I am 29 years old, and I live in Örebro. I previously worked as a warehouse worker/assembler. After six years of working, I decided to start studying. I have always been interested in social challenges and societal issues.

If you are a student from a country outside the EU/EEA or Switzerland and plan to study in Sweden for more than three months, you must obtain a residence permit before traveling.
If you are a student from a EU/EEA country you do not need to apply for residence permit.
Impact and the utilisation of research (4.5 credits) is a doctoral course that deals with how knowledge from your research can be useful for society, business and academia.
The findings, experiences, and ideas that emerge from research have traditionally been utilised through academic publication and teaching programmes. However, academic impact alone is no longer enough for a successful research career.
On 20-21 April, doctoral students at Karlstad University participated in an international student cyber security challenge, organised by the Atlantic Council.

A group of exchange students who were here 1999-2000, have continued to stay in touch and meet regularly. This summer, they returned and revisited Karlstad University.

On 25–27 August, twelve doctoral students embarked on an international research programme as part of the European network Privacy&Us at Karlstad University.

During the autumn four groups of students on the course Service Management and IT have worked with interviewing different target groups and suggesting improvements of a prototype to a digital matching service, which Compare has produced.
The purpose is to support companies to get started with investments on digitalizing and to get more innovative small and medium companies through digital innovation.

A student enrolled in the course “Intercultural studies: race and whiteness in Sweden” at Karlstad University was reported for harassment and disruption of teaching. The disciplinary board has now decided that no disciplinary measure be taken. Two members of the board have dissenting opinions.
The disciplinary board received two reports against the student. One report from a fellow student and one from a student association.
