There are many shops in the city centre and also a multi-shopping area at Bergvik where IKEA is located and easily reached with non-stop buses from Campus. In relation to the number of inhabitants, Karlstad is a top-ranking city in number of restaurants and bars. There are nightclubs with famous live-artist performances and small clubs, pubs, and restaurants with different profiles and menus.
Transportation
Public transportation runs smoothly in Karlstad. There are buses every ten minutes between the centre and campus. Students get a discount on the city buses. There are also many bike and walking trails. In 20 minutes you can reach the central parts of Karlstad from the University.
Culture and arts
Karlstad is also known for its music venues. In recent years many world artists have chosen a venue in Karlstad for their concert tours to Sweden. Several nightclubs, restaurants, and cafés also arrange concerts and various live performances. There is something for everyone. The Värmland Museum is located in Karlstad and offers exhibitions and lectures.
