Johan Samuelsson grew up on a farm outside of Mariestad in Västergötland. In the mid 1990-s, he graduated with a teacher education degree from Karlstad University with a specialisation in history and religious studies.

Erik Wästlund was born and raised in Karlstad. He began his academic studies with social anthropology at the University of Gothenburg and then continued with psychology at Karlstad University.

Georg Gulyas was born in Säffle. His Hungarian father worked at the city library while his Finnish mother worked at the church daycare centre. He acquired his basic qualification in classical guitar from Malmö Academy of Music.
After completing his degree, he continued his studies at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, École Normale de Musique de Paris and Juilliard School in New York.
Marcus Berg is originally from Umeå, where he also majored in Physics before enrolling as a PhD student at the University of Texas at Austin, which at the time was the biggest university in the U.S. in terms of student numbers, and, not least, had two Nobel Prize laureates in the physics department.

Henrik Rahm grew up in Linköping and completed a degree in education in Lund in the 1980s, specialising in German, Swedish and Swedish as a second language.

Annika Rudman was born and raised in Borås, but has family ties to Värmland as her father and grandparents come from Höljes in northern Värmland. She has a law degree and a master’s degree in human rights from Lund University.
After completing her studies in Lund, she moved to Gothenburg where she completed her PhD at the School of Global Studies with a thesis on women’s property rights in southern Africa.

Having grown up near Karlstad University, Yvonne Liljekvist can practically see all the way “home” from her 5th-floor office in house 21. So it was only natural to get her bachelor’s degree in education with a specialisation in mathematics, science and technology in her hometown.
Although Marie Nilsberth, like many young people, was curious about a variety of things growing up, becoming teacher has always been at the top of her list. She still believes that teachers play an important role, and following a career as a teacher in years 4-6 and special educational needs coordinator, she now trains future teachers at Karlstad University.

Niklas Gericke studied to be a teacher of mathematics and natural science at the former Karlstad University College at the beginning of the 1990s. His majors were biology and chemistry.

The world needs more efficient energy systems based on renewable raw material, an equation not easily solved. At Karlstad University, research and education are in progress to find sustainable energy systems, for instance, through a project in which pellets replace charcoal in cooking solutions in Zambia, because cooking with charcoal as fuel leads to extensive deforestation as well as health hazards.
Marie Karlsson Tuula was born in 1961 and grew up in Malmö. When she was twenty she moved to Stockholm to study. She was accepted to law school in 1983 and completed her Bachelor degree in 1987.
In addition to law, Marie Karlsson Tuula took a number of courses in European processes, business economics and criminology, and completed her apprenticeship at the then Mölndal District Court.
You just returned to Sweden after spending a couple of months in Australia, what did you do there?
- I was a guest professor at University of Queensland Business School in Brisbane, Australia. During my stay there I focused on our research related to customer experiences and service innovation that is conducted within one of CTF’s major research profiles “Service Innovation for Sustainable Business”.
The research group NewDeP, New Development for Pellet Technology, consists of seven researchers and has been working on pellet research since 2001. The research encompasses how renewable material can become a high-quality pelleted product, in a sustainable and energy efficient way.

Martin Grimberg Löfgren grew up in Säffle and has stayed true to his hometown. After completing his studies at Karlstad University, he remained with the university and began his doctoral studies in Business Administration in 2002. He has since worked as a senior lecturer and became docent in 2011 and professor in 2021.
Rabia Bayer, tell us about your assignment at Karlstad Business School
– As part of the Erasmus mobility program, I will be joining Karlstad Business School to contribute to the International Business class as a guest lecturer. My role involves delivering a lecture on International Marketing Ethics, emphasizing sustainability within challenging industries such as tourism and luxury.

Anna-Britt Coe was born in Massachusetts, USA, to a Swedish mother and an American father. She has lived in Washington DC, Lima in Peru and Umeå/Nordmaling and studied sociology at undergraduate and postgraduate level at American University, Washington DC, and completed her PhD at Umeå University.

Evelina Landstedt comes from a big family in Färila in Hälsingland, central Sweden. After completing the natural science programme in upper secondary school, she was the first in her family to go on to university studies.
She took courses in the history of science and ideas, sociology and gender studies at Lund University.
Anders Hultqvist was born and raised in Småland. He managed his own press photography business, completed his military service at the Artillery Cadet and Aspirant School in Jönköping, served as an adviser on international law and reserve officer for just over 20 years, and worked as a police officer in Stockholm for five years.
During his years in as a police officer Anders Hultqvist started studying law and obtained his degree in 1985.
“In our lives, both individually and as a group, we spend a lot of time focusing on how to minimise the risk of, for example, catastrophes, accidents and poverty. We constantly compare different risks and we assess what risks are acceptable to expose ourselves and others to.”
Finn Nilson was born in Skåne, but he grew up in Great Britain.

Bestoun S. Ahmed Al-Beywanee is originally from Iraq and was born in 1982. He has a bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering Science from 2004 and got a scholarship to finish his master's study at University Putra Malaysia 2007-2009.
After his master degree Bestoun S. Ahmed Al-Beywanee moved on to a Ph.D. fellowship position at the University of Science Malaysia (2009-2012) in the field of Software engineering.
