In order to ensure that our educations are well adapted to the needs of the labor market, we regularly follow up the alumni who have graduated from the School of Business and Economics.
During the years 2017-2023, 3065 people graduated from the Business School. Of these, 39 percent were men and 61 percent women.

Digitalisation and work
Digitalisation affects all levels and structures of society. Work life science's research regarding digitalisation is based on an interdisciplinary perspective and relates to how work and the work environment are affected when digital solutions are implemented.
Karlstad Business School welcomes Peter Bellström as a new docent in Information Systems.
Peter Bellström has been a part of Karlstad Business School for many years. Now, Peter takes the next step up to docent, while simultaneously continuing his two main areas of study.

Although Marie Nilsberth, like many young people, was curious about a variety of things growing up, becoming teacher has always been at the top of her list. She still believes that teachers play an important role, and following a career as a teacher in years 4-6 and special educational needs coordinator, she now trains future teachers at Karlstad University.

The Anthropocene concept denotes not only the realities of endangered Earth systems but also the many controversies surrounding this predicament’s interpretation and conceptualisation.
Hence, it reflects education’s need to address both the factual consequences and the normative questions of guilt, justice, ecojustice and human self-understanding, to which the Bildung dimension is central.

This workshop aims to introduce researchers to the ‘Impact Agenda’: the growing demand of funding bodies (especially those channelling public money) that the research they support should benefit wider society, beyond academia. Impact can occur from research in every field. It has become conventional to categorise Impact as either ‘economic’ or ‘societal’.
The Riskville game aims to engage and create awareness about how we build our cities and how this connects to how society is affected by hazardous events. The challenge of Riskville is to develop a city in an attractive, safe and sustainable way.

Project work has been positively booming in recent years. Karlstad Business School now has global classrooms where students have influence over their education.
In 2021, project management is no longer associated exclusively with IT projects where engineers are at the helm. A lot of work is done in project form on a regional, national, and municipal level and the private sector is hungry for well-prepared students.
The course focuses on how businesses and other organisations can learn from customer complaints, product flaws, and service failure, and make sure that these problems do not recur.

Maria åkesson defended her doctoral thesis "Role constellation in value co-creation" in Business Administration on December 15th at Karlstad University. Her thesis focuses on customer-employee role constellations during value co-creation.
Abstract
The contribution of the present thesis is describing and explaining how value is co-created by addressing customer-employee role constellations during service encounters.
Karlstad University is engaged in a collaboration with the national initiatives Campus Total Defence and Cybercampus Sweden, as well as a regional collaboration with the Swedish Defence University.

On June 26th - 29th researchers from CTF, together with more than 200 service researchers and business leaders from around the world, gathered in Miami, Florida, to discuss and present the latest trends and research results in the customer service and customer experience at the annual Frontiers in Service Conference.

In the first study of its kind, researchers from Karlstad University, Sweden and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, USA, found an elevated rate of language delay in girls at 30 months old born to mothers who used acetaminophen during pregnancy, but not in boys. The study was published online January 10 in European Psychiatry.
The Swedish Environmental Longitudinal, Mother and Child, Asthma and Allergy study (SELMA) provided data for the research.
