Description and aim of the workshop
The workshop aims at sharing and advancing the state-of-the-art in ‘Mathematical Modeling with Measures’.
The last two weeks the CCS, Centre for Climate and Safety at Karlstad University has been visited by two experts on natural disaster modelling from the US Federal Emergency Management Agency, FEMA.
Jesse Rozelle, the Acting Branch Chief for FEMA HQ’s Actuarial and Catastrophic Modeling Branch, and Casey Zuzak, a Senior Risk Analyst for Hazus and the Natural Hazards Risk Assessment Program (NHRAP) are in Karlstad in connection to a research project funded by the Swedish C

During the upcoming Olympic Games, athletes from all over the world gather after years of preparation to perform their lifetime results. However, burnout among athletes is a growing problem, not least at the elite level. A new article by three researchers clarifies the causes of this, consequences, and how to prevent burnout.
Several studies have shown that burnout appears when an athlete feels physically tired and emotionally drained by their training and competing.

A glimpse from a yearly upcoming symposium (except during pandemic 2020 and 2021) on Marketing Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility. The symposium started 2011 in London with an initiative of Professor Patrick E. Murphy, Mendoza College of Business, University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, USA, specializes in marketing and business ethics.
The symposium has been hosted by several Universities/ Business schools around Europe and USA.

This workshop aims to introduce the researcher to some of the generic elements of research proposal evaluation. As far as possible, the session will include input from external experts as well as GIO staff. Evaluations are conducted by human beings, and while excellent research ideas are the key factor in success, there are also a range of techniques and knowledge which can influence the evaluators and support you in developing competitive proposals.

Lucia Casap from Academy of Economic Study of Moldova visits Information Systems for three weeks in june 2015.
Lucia's research study bears the provisional title “E-Governance: Harmonization of education information systems in Moldova by implementing EMIS”. EMIS is Education Management Information Systems. For her trip to Sweden she has received a Japanese scholarship administrated by UNESCO. Next year she plans to stay for two months.
