As of July 2018, Swedish universities have limited access to journals from Elsevier, one of the world’s largest scientific publishers. However, employees at Karlstad University can still access new articles through the interlibrary lending service, ”Get it now”.
Magazines published by Elsevier between January 1, 1995 and June 30, 2018 are still available through the usual channels.

The fifth edition of Karlstad programming contest is arranged at 8 October by Computer Science at Karlstad University. The contest is part of the Nordic championship, Nordic Collegiate Programming Contest.
The contest takes place in teams with up to 3 persons who shall solve a dozen tasks with programming in C, C++, C#, Go, Java, Objective-C or Python.

Integration and Ageing of Marriage Migrants in Japan: The Role of Local and Transnational Networks
It has been two decades since the start of the large influx of female marriage migrants from former Soviet countries (mainly, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan) to Japan. Currently there are about 16,000 nationals of the abovementioned countries, with approximately 3,500-4,000 of them being female marriage migrants.
The first course round has now finished and the students Maria Oliva and Thibault Vainer are very pleased.
– I will definitely benefit from this course in my future career, says student Maria Oliva.
– We based the course on the idea that students need to practise their communication skills in a variety of situations that they will encounter in life, says John Johansson.

The Håkan Frisinger Foundation for Transportation Research awarded its 2014 scholarship to Professor Margareta Friman at Karlstad University.
