This is a PhD project which focus on the implementation and application of Motivational interviewing in schools. Motivational interviewing (MI) is a collaborative communication style used to promote individuals’ own motivation and self-efficacy. In seeking to develop and strengthen teachers’ relational approaches and knowledge, and to support pupils’ motivation, interest in applying MI in schools has increased.
Our physical environment – the way it looks and functions both inside and outside – matters a lot for the university to attract students and employees.
The document Campusplan 2040 points out the long-term direction for the university’s physical environment. The plan has been created as a collaboration project between the university and Akademiska hus.

Starting in January 2019, the online course "Idea Management" will give you a review of idea management practices, and teach you how to manage the generation, refinement, and assessment of ideas for both product and service innovations.
Idea Management (6 ECTS credits) is a web-based course at master’s level developed for professionals working with or having an interest in service, customer experiences and business development.

The term of office for the Centre for Social Risk research (CSR) board expired 31 December 2022 and acting Vice-Chancellor Margareta Friman has decided on a new board. The current term started 9 February and ends 31 December 2025.
The new board comprises both external board members as well as representatives from Karlstad University.

International Summer School – Digital Health Innovation: Intersections of Design, Technology, and Gender.
From the 20. until the 27.06.2021 at Karlstad University, Sweden
While digital health is often praised as the solution to contemporary and future health problems, the social inequalities contained in and reinforced through digital health technologies are often not acknowledged.
Karlstad University has received funding from the KK Foundation to build an industrial research school in forest-based bioeconomy and digitization. The project runs from June 2023 to May 2029.
EXACT is a collaboration between two strong research groups at Karlstad University - Pro2BE and DAMI4.0 - eight companies and several industry partners.
– Our research makes a valuable contribution to the students’ work in designing places for tourism, where we demonstrate the importance of working with place-based digital development in harmony with places and people, says Lotta Braunerhielm, docent in human geography at Karlstad University.
