In a recently published CTF article, researchers Frida Skarin, Lars E. Olsson, Margareta Friman and Erik Wästlund address the factors that affect behavioral changes in public transport. The researchers have studied a two-week free public transportation-trial where people, who fulfilled certain criteria, were allowed to travel free of charge by public transport for two weeks.

Over the course of several weeks, two researchers from Bangalore, India, have visited the university as part of an ongoing collaboration funded by STINT, the Swedish Foundation for International Cooperation in Research and Higher Education. This is a long-term collaboration, says Sergej Moroz, Associate Professor of Physics. New research at Karlstad University shows that "boyish" play behavior at the age of 7 can be linked to both behavioral problems and autistic traits. In a study that includes 718 children, researchers from Karlstad University and Uppsala University have identified clear connections between gender-role-related play and the development of behavioral challenges.

Didem, welcome to Karlstad university and Geomedia. Tell us about your background. - Thank you. I research and write about emerging digital technologies and their societal implications, in particular, mobile and locative media, location technologies, mobilities, data, algorithms, machine learning, and memory.
Karlstad University’s user lab are used by different disciplines and also in collaboration with external parties. Within the research group for usability studies, there is also the development of methodologies for interaction design, especially around Ozlab which is a GUI experimental web service developed to admit easy testing, even improvisation, of ideas for interactive products. It admits non-programmers to become concept developers and interactivity testers.

Marit Engen is our second new postdoctoral researcher that have joined CTF this year. Marit Engen completed her PhD in 2016 at Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences, Lillehammer. Her research interest lies in the area of service innovation, and her doctoral thesis, "Frontline employees as participants in service innovation processes – Innovation by Weaving", focused on service innovation processes, and in particular the involvement of frontline employees.

All aboard the digital train: technological marginalization in public transit Digital marginalisation in public transit. Digital infrastructure has expanded rapidly and become integrated into the fundamental structures of society. Public logistical structures are no exception, with Swedish public transit utilising digital platforms enabled by mobile media for both travel planning and ticket management.
Feminist comics have come to play a prominent role in Swedish cultural debates, serving as political satire, social commentary and a medium for activism. The aim of the project is to examine the explosion of feminist comic art in Sweden, popularized by creators such as Liv Strömquist, Nina Hemmingsson, and Sara Granér, among many others.

Joann Peck has been appointed Visiting Professor at CTF. The Visiting professorship is funded by Anne-Marie and Gustaf Ander Foundation for Media Research, which provide grants to cover the cost of a visiting professor at the CTF for a month during the next three years. - I am so excited to be invited as a Visiting professor at CTF and Karlstad University. I have been fortunate to work with Anders Gustafsson at CTF on several projects in various retail settings.
