CTF is one of the participants in the project IndBygg, which is run by Paper Province. The project aims to promote a green transition within the construction industry and, through collaboration, bring industrial wood construction to new heights.
To achieve the goals for sustainable development and create a fossil-free society, we need to develop the forest-based bioeconomy and use more wood as a construction material.
On June 12-15 researchers from CTF, Service Research Center at Karlstad University, Sweden, gathered in Porto for the QUIS15 symposium. The symposium is held every other year and attracts around 250 leading researchers and executives from all over the world.
CTF researchers Per Skålén, Carolina Camén and Bo Edvardsson participated in a workshop on Transformative service research.

Last week CTF, Service Research Center at Karlstad University, together with Experio Lab, hosted a consortium meeting in Karlstad within the European research training network SDIN.
In addition to supervision of the doctoral candidates associated with SDIN, and a board meeting, a public conference was arranged with the intention to disseminate some of the research conducted within the project.

Finding your way at the university

Research on justice in connection with disasters and sustainable development is becoming increasingly important in a world where climate change and social inequalities create new challenges.
We work within the paradigm of a circular forest based bioeconomy using a system analysis perspective.
The research group Water-Energy Nexus at Karlstad University contribute to a circular forest based bioeconomy by upgrading low-value sidestreams to raw materials, which are then used for production of useful materials and energy carriers.

IETF, the Internet Engineering Task Force, arranged its first meeting of the year on 4–9 April 2016 in Buenos Aires. Computer Science at Karlstad University participated in several activities contributing to the development and maintenance of the Internet.
IETF is an independent international organisation concerned with the development and maintenance of the Internet. The organisation creates and maintains Internet standardisation processes.

E-Vote-ID is an international and annual meeting for electronic voting specialists from all over the world. This years conference was a great success with two keynotes and over 100 participants, included from as far as Fiji, Ecuador and Australia.
Melanie Volkamer, Professor in Computer Science at Karlstad university was part of arranging this years conference which was arranged 18–21 October 2016 in Bregenz, Austria.

We are happy to welcome Hugo Guyader to CTF. He will be working with professors Margareta Friman and Lars E Olsson in a research project on shared mobility, and will develop a survey for users of a Swedish ride sharing platform.

Johan Netz is senior lecturer in Business Administration and an active researcher and teacher. On 1 July, he will take over as head of department at Karlstad Business School.
