The computer workstations are primarily intended for students and a student account (KauID) is required to log in. Other visitors can get a temporary guest-login on presentation of a valid photo ID.

There are approximately 20 computer workstations in the Library located on floor 1, 2 and 3. The computers are free to use if they are available and they can not be booked.

Basic criteria for exchange studiesIn order to eligible for a Karlstad University exchange place, administered by the International Office, students should:Have studied at least two semesters (of 30 ECTS each) at Karlstad University immediately before the start of the exchange periodAt the time of application, be registered as a Karlstad University student and be admitted to full-time studies (full-time study equates to 30 ECTS per semester)Have passed at least 75% of their courses.

A new study in the SELMA project at Karlstad University, Sweden, shows that flooring material of soft PVC in the home is a source for uptake of phthalates in pregnant women, phthalates that are considered dangerous in the EU chemical regulation system.
PVC flooring often contain phthalates to make the plastic soft.

Ingo Oswald Karpen was born in Europe with Luxemburgish as his mother tongue. He moved to Australia to pursue his studies and complete his PhD, followed by ten years of working as an academic in the Australian higher education system.

Martin Österling is from Karlstad but started his academic career by studying in Uppsala and Gothenburg, resulting in a Degree of Master of Marine Biology.
After receiving his degree, he was awarded a scholarship and studied the coral reefs outside the coast

“The foundation of Materials Engineering is to understand how the building blocks of materials, or their microstructures, interact on different length scales and result in different properties such as strength impact resistance, fatigue strength, abrasion resistance, electrical properties and corrosion resistance.”
Mikael Grehk was born in Filipstad and grew up in Karlstad, where he graduated with an upper secondary school engineer degree from Älvkullegymnasiet.
The project The pressured preschool? is a dissertation project of Maria Lennartsdotter's PhD-project, started in 2019. The dissertation project aims to sheds light on Swedish preschool as it is presented by more than 1000 preschool teachers and childcare minders during #pressatläge.
In international reports, the Swedish preschool has until recently been referred to in terms such as “outstanding” and “an international role model”.

Bestoun S. Ahmed Al-Beywanee is originally from Iraq and was born in 1982. He has a bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering Science from 2004 and got a scholarship to finish his master's study at University Putra Malaysia 2007-2009.
After his master degree Bestoun S. Ahmed Al-Beywanee moved on to a Ph.D. fellowship position at the University of Science Malaysia (2009-2012) in the field of Software engineering.
At the start of summer, Henrik Rahm started his position as professor of Swedish language at Karlstad University.
– As a new professor of Swedish language, I hope to inspire new linguistic and multidisciplinary research projects and show that language expertise is important in many contexts, says Henrik Rahm.
Henrik Rahms is a linguist and holds a teaching degree in German, Swedish and Swedish as a second language.

Carina Bååth was born in Katrineholm and grew up in Kil in Värmland. She got her degree in Nursing in Karlstad in 1983. After continuing professional development in orthopaedics, Carina Bååth spent many years working for Region Värmland as an orthopaedic nurse, quality assurance nurse, and operational developer.
The activities of Geomedia are organized in three research tracks: (1) Mediatization of Space and Culture, (2) Spaces of News Production and Consumption and (3) Tourism and Mobility Studies. These tracks are not exclusive entities but serve as articulations of the Geomedia profile as a whole.

Graduation ceremonies at Karlstad University are arranged twice a year - in May and November.

The experiences gained from that application process were then utilised in a new application for a Degree of Master of Fine Arts, which was submitted to the Swedish Higher Education Authority, UKÄ. The application has now been approved and Ingesund School of Music can issue a master’s degree.

Hotspot is Karlstad University’s annual job fair and one of the biggest in Sweden.
Hotspot was founded by the then Karlstad University and the first Hotspot was arranged 1998. The fair welcomes all students at Kau and all industries. Every year, about 100 exhibitors gather and they all have the same goal: to meet and recruit the competence of the future, Karlstad University students.
Visual Art in Theory and Practice at Karlstad University collaborate with other disciplines at the university, as well as with external actors in the region's art and cultural life in various projects.
"Eldkonst" is a show arranged anually during several years by Karlstad University, Karlstad Municipality and Värmland's Museum.
Vice-chancellor Johan Sterte has made a new decision regarding teaching in the current pandemic. The decision is made to allow the University’s organisation to prepare for a gradual return to campus.
As a general rule, distance teaching and examination will continue in the autumn semester of 2021.
