This has now led to his participation in an international conference on secure IT systems. From 1 January 2017, Reine Lundin has been the new Dean of the Faculty of Health, Science and Technology at Karlstad University, and has subsequently also taken the role as chairperson of the management group for the research profile HITS (high-quality network services in a mobile world). Digitalization and GDPR have made management of personal data increasingly demanding for many organizations, as well as citizens. Last year there were reports on 2300 personal data incidents to the Swedish Data Protection Authority, of which one quarter concerned the public sector. In addition to legal and technical challenges, there are also questions on how value is created with personal data, and not least on whose terms.

Researchers at CTF, Service Research Center at Karlstad University, will, within an Interreg Consortium, analyze travel services from a traveler's perspective. The project is funded by the EU regional development fund Interreg Baltic Sea Region. In 2019, three of our researchers defended their doctoral dissertations and one licentiate thesis was presented. We have admitted no less than four new PhD students. In June, we hosted a fantastic conference, QUIS16, with around 250 international researchers.

Our research embraces both traditional areas of e-services and new phenomena related to information system research, including strategies and business processes at the organizational level and individual-level usability and privacy. Much of our research revolves around various aspects of e-services. E-services have the ability to increase organizational efficiency, reduce costs, attract new customers and improve customer service in both private and public organizations.
