Current research at Karlstad University is focused on aquatic ecosystems and terrestrial habitats. With the knowledge that the two environments impact and strongly depend on each other, it is important to study the connection between them.
Insects hatch in water, fly over both watercourses and land. They can either provide a food source for terrestrial animals or fall into the water they once came from and become food for fish.
Stefanija Klaric from Darwin, Australia was supposed to visit us three years ago, but then the pandemic happened. Finally, she has arrived at Karlstad University and is currently exchanging experiences with fellow engineering scholars.

On September 1–3, Retake with researchers from Service Research Center (CTF) at Karlstad University attended Gothenburg Culture Festival to test a rotation-based system for recyclable cups.

– A study on inclusion and exclusion processes affecting young Hazara refugees in Sweden.
This project is a collaboration between Martin Joormann (Associate Professor in Social Work at KAU) and Anna Lundberg (Professor in Sociology of Law at LU). The project aims to conduct a joint analysis of previously collected data, supplement it with additional data in the form of public documentation, and publish a scientific article.

Right now there is project at Samot, The Service and Market Oriented Transport Research Group at Karlstad University, which focuses on increasing the understanding of how travelers perceive their daily travel. The researchers have developed a tool which they can measure the experiences in real time.

"Making a Difference" was the theme of the Association for Consumer Research North American Conference that was held October 3-6 in Chicago, USA. The conference had about 1500 participants, including several world-leading researcher in consumer behavior. CTF was represented by researchers Anders Gustafsson and Tobias Otterbring.

It was an opportunity to ask questions, try out lay-outs and make adjustments ahead of the continuous journey.
Three years ago, Karlstad Business School was granted application to start the process for accreditation at AACSB.

Over the next two years, researchers at CTF, Service Research Center at Karlstad University, will investigate how the Internet of Things, IoT, can be used in creating a better school environment and improving student health. The project will be carried out together with a number of actors and is based on a secondary school in Arvika Municipality, Sweden.
The focus of the project is to find out how IoT can measure children’s and young people’s health at school.
