E-Vote-ID is an international and annual meeting for electronic voting specialists from all over the world. This years conference was a great success with two keynotes and over 100 participants, included from as far as Fiji, Ecuador and Australia.

In October CTF organized a workshop in Karlstad with focus on remote services in the manufacturing industry. IT-based services within manufacturing industry is becoming increasingly common which open up for new ways to interact, but introducing new technology is also a challenge and many questions arise.
This was the starting point for the workshop where a number of companies from the manufacturing industry participated.

Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University Stuttgart (Duale Hochschule Baden Württemberg in German and DHBW for short) visited us during a couple of days to discuss future Erasmus exchanges for our students studying ERP and Economy and Webb and Multimedia.
On the 24th and 25th of May professors Kai Holzweißig and Thomas Kessel from DHBW visited the Information System department to get acquainted with the department before future Erasmus exchanges.

During the Christmas and New Year holiday record amounts of food is wasted. But, it is possible to reduce food waste with relatively simple means. Here, researchers at CTF, Service Research Center at Karlstad University, share some tips for a more climate-smart Christmas.

Schools and preschools in Sweden are culturally diverse arenas, with more than a quarter of children in Sweden having immigrant backgrounds (Statistiska Centralbyrån, 2017). The Swedish preschool curriculum acknowledges the importance of responsivity to culturally and linguistically diverse children and families. Thus, graduate teachers need to be equipped to work children and families from ethnically and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

The goal in Agenda 2030 is for global food waste in the entire food chain to be reduced by half. Researchers at CTF are working to develop, communicate and disseminate new knowledge that can support producers, service providers and consumers in this effort.
Fredrik Wikström and Helén Williams have done research for many years on issues related to the environment and sustainability, and the role of packaging in reducing food waste.
The capacity for innovation has decreased according the latest results by the Swedish Innovation Index where the Service Research Center (CTF) at Karlstad University asked thousands of customers to rank the innovativeness of Swedish companies, organisations and authorities.

On December 4, high school students, university students, doctoral candidates, senior researchers, and company representatives gathered at Karlstad University to work together in teams on current mathematical challenges presented by businesses during the The Mathematics Meets Industry Day (MiMM Day).
Rottneros, Tesa, Blue Ocean Closures, and Region Värmland presented real-world problems, seeking sustainable solutions with the participants' help.

On November 13-14, the IBS Conference, 3rd International Conference on Business Servitization, was held in Bilbao, Spain. Servitization, which was the theme of the conference, is what happens when manufacturing companies start focusing on services.
