On March 28-29, researchers Katrin Lättman and Margareta Friman participated in the BEST Annual Seminar 2019 in Helsinki, Finland, where they presented current research on the travel habits of different life stages, with focus on the elderly.

Linnea Claesson
Linnéa Claeson is an award-winning speaker, lawyer (Lawyer of the Year 2018), two-time handball world champion, and committed human rights defender. She has spoken in the European Parliament and led non-profit organizations for refugees and homeless people. Additionally, Linnéa is a goodwill ambassador for Kvinna till Kvinna, an organization that works for women's rights.

Representatives of the Brazilian government visited Värmland for two days to draw inspiration for regional development. Their visit included a thorough presentation of the Academy for Smart Specialisation and a visit to the Business from Bioeconomy conference.

Karlstad University receives grant of 2 million SEK from the Knowledge Foundation to develop a high in-demand Master’s programme in data-driven mechanical engineering.
- There is an increasing demand for this type of programme, says Anton Tkachuk, Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering and project manager in the development of the Master’s programme. The challenge is to create a degree programme that addresses areas such as data-driven approach and digitalisation tools.

Hotspot is Karlstad University’s annual job fair and one of the biggest in Sweden.
Hotspot was founded by the then Karlstad University and the first Hotspot was arranged 1998. The fair welcomes all students at Kau and all industries. Every year, about 100 exhibitors gather and they all have the same goal: to meet and recruit the competence of the future, Karlstad University students.
Midway between Stockholm, Gothenburg and Oslo, on the northern shore of Lake Vänern - you'll find Karlstad. Here you will find a mixture of a vibrant nightlife, food from all corners of the world and a wide range of cultural activities. It's close to most things and within easy walking distance you'll find everything you need.
Sun, water and the hospitality of Värmland - where Sweden's longest river meets Europe's third largest lake you will find Karlstad.
Businesses and public organizations continuously work on developing new services or products in order to be innovative. One important part in this work is to know how ideas for new services and products are evaluated, since the idea screening determine whether an idea is considered good, and whether it will continue its development as an innovation project.
Karlstad University’s user lab are used by different disciplines and also in collaboration with external parties. Within the research group for usability studies, there is also the development of methodologies for interaction design, especially around Ozlab which is a GUI experimental web service developed to admit easy testing, even improvisation, of ideas for interactive products. It admits non-programmers to become concept developers and interactivity testers.

The permanent exhibition at Sandgrund shows different themes from Lars Lerin's 30 years as an artist; watercolor paintings, oil paintings, graphic art, collages and photographs from many places in the world.We will meet outside the museum at 2:00 PM.
Georgia Aitaki has analysed financial crises, striving for international attention and broken hearts in countries far from home.
With her doctoral thesis ”The Private life of a nation in crisis - A study on the politics in/of Greek television fiction”, Georgia Aitaki, senior lecturer in Media and Communication Studies at Karlstad University, examined the Greek TV industry and the mechanisms involving its producers, screenwriters and filmmakers.

Rose (Research on Subject-specific Education) is a multidisciplinary research environment with a special interest in subject-specific – learning and teaching in subjects. It includes how the content of teaching is selected and how different teaching methods affect and shape the subject content, from primary school to higher education. The focus is on what happens in the classroom, and on the interaction between teachers and students in the learning process.

There is a lack of knowledge among professionals in most government agencies that handle and are responsible for honor-based violence in Sweden.
Mission 0 House, a collaboration between industry and academia with the goal of eliminating greenhouse gas emissions from manufacturing processes, has secured its first long-term research funding. Several leading companies, together with the Knowledge Foundation (KK-stiftelsen), have jointly guaranteed nearly 100 million SEK for the next five years.
Mission 0 House, led by Polestar and Lindholmen Science Park, started as a pilot project in 2024.
