Around Christmas time we become more and more stressed and affected by crowds and high volume in the stores. How can we make Christmas shopping less stressful? This is what a current research study at Karlstad University is investigating.
In the study, researchers Anders Gustafsson and Poja Shams at CTF, Service Research Center at Karlstad University are investigating how to reduce stress while shopping, this by the means of an activity bracelet.

COURSE CONTENT
The aim of the course is to acquire increased knowledge and understanding of value creation processes through various methods with a focus on customer journeys.

Karlstad University has appointed three new honorary doctors. One of them is Brian Hudson, Emeritus Professor of Education and former head of The School of Education and Social Work at the University of Sussex. He has worked closely with teacher education-related research at Karlstad University since 2015, particularly with the strong research group Rose, a multidisciplinary research environment with a special interest in subject didactics – learning and teaching in subjects.

The usability lab, Ozlab, has been frequently occupied this spring, among other thins for eyetracking-surveys, updating of the manual and introductionfilms.
From the latter half of January we had two German students as internships for 10 weeks, Antonia Appel and Jakob Kümmerle, from DHBW, Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg. They helped students conducting various projects on undergraduate and master level with eyetracking equipment.

Classical music is one of the three generic areas at Ingesund School of Music (MHI) and is included in most of our courses and programmes.
Classical music students have individual lessons with their main instrument teachers. The number of hours depends a bit on the course/programme followed.

That was the topic for a recent conference that concluded the project called “Place-based digital experiences (PDU)”. Three places – the Glaskogen nature reserve, the Kristinehamn archipelago, and the town of Sunne, with a focus on culture and narrative – were studied in depth by Karlstad University researchers.

- That’s right! I attended the international health psychology conference “36th Annual Conference of the European Health Psychology Society”, which was held at the end of August. The annual conference is organised by the European Health Psychology Society, which aims to promote research and application of health psychology.

Karlstad University and Deutsche Telekom are collaborating on a project intended to improve the internet connection for users. The goal is for the technology to be incorporated into every mobile phone within five years.
Mobile phones use 4G, 5G, and Wi-Fi to access the internet. The project called MultiAccess will tie them together in a flexible way and thus improve the connection.

Under dagarna onsdag – lördag hade jag tillsammans med flera av mina kollegor från GiftED förmånen att få lyssna till duktiga talare med lång erfarenhet av Giftedness och gifted education. Dagarna var långa och välfyllda men tiden gick fort.
The possibility of moving between different sectors and universities, within Sweden and abroad, has proven to be a successful step for researchers at Karlstad University.
