Religious Studies is by definition an international discipline and has been organised in this way at Karlstad University for a long time. The impact of today’s global and multicultural society is present in all our subject courses. Our department is often visited by international guest lecturers who discuss religion and the teaching of religion in different national contexts from varied perspectives and give the students many opportunities for international insights.

Within Rose, research is conducted within a number of different projects where the starting point is that questions about social, economic and environmentally sustainable societal development need to be posed in relation to teaching and learning. ROSE has a clear socially relevant focus in its research with a focus on exploring areas from a comparative subject didactic perspective.

Open access deals with publishers

Karlstad University Library has agreements with a number of scientific publishers where the fees for publishing open access are either prepaid or discounted. The library is a member of the Swedish Bibsam consortium at the Royal library, who negotiates these agreements on a national level. If you are an author/researcher affiliated to Karlstad University, you can publish open access under the terms of these agreements.

A series of master courses for game producers is offered from autumn 2025 which can lead to a 1-year master exam in Information Systems. Our education highlights challenges and solutions in organising inter-human communication in creative projects, within and between studios.

I have just returned from Madrid, where I attended a large international gathering with a focus on customer-driven innovation. The event was organised by Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and researchers from all over the world attended.
