ServDIT
In recent years Servitization has become one of the hottest concepts in service research, especially among manufacturing companies. However, sooner or later these companies discover that their existing development methods, and – tools are not able to handle the specific demands of service development. There are a variety of methods and tools that are designed to develop services, the difficulty is to find them and understand how and when to use them; there has been a need for some type of compilation tool. Now there is Servdit.
Our researchers Johan Netz and Peter Magnusson have, within the Vinnova-funded research project Flexkraft and within our research profile Service Innovation for Sustainable Business, developed the service tool, Servdit.
The purpose of the tool is to create an overview of the many different methods concerning services. Servdit is a kind of a virtual toolbox with various methods sorted in compartments depending on the area of use:
(1) To understand customer requirements (2) Generating ideas (3) Translating customer needs (4) Implementation (5) Quality assurance.
Servdit is primarily aimed at people who are interested in or working on developing services. In the current version there are about 30 methods briefly described. The methods are only described in regards to introduce the reader to the methods. The tool is dynamic and is gradually filled up with new methods.
