CTF researcher Jörg Pareigis, has been appointed as Head of Centre for Teaching and Learning at Karlstad University. The Centre for Teaching and Learning, UPE, has overall responsibility for the development of skills within university pedagogy and didactics.
“I collaborate with researchers in the fields of human-computer interaction, human-robot interaction, subject-specific music education and ethics.” Carl Unander-Scharin was born in Stockholm in 1964 and graduated from Adolf Fredriks musikgymnasium in 1983. He continued his studies at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, where he studied church music, choir education and the supplementary teacher education.

CTF’s efforts to develop groundbreaking theoretical knowledge has resulted in multidisciplinary research themes: Service Innovation, Service Management, and Service Experience. Based on these themes CTF is now developing a crosscutting theme on Transformative Service Research, TSR. It is a relatively new field in service research and is increasingly getting more attention in academia.

Professors Patrik Larsson, CTF, and Lena Gonäs, Working Life Science at Karlstad University, have contributed to this book with a chapter on the Swedish development of human resource management entitled "Employment Regimes and Personnel Work in Sweden". The book contains studies of the historical development of human resource management (HRM) in seventeen different nations.

What did you do there? – I was invited as keynote speaker at the International Research Symposium IRSSM 8th International Research Symposium in Service Management at Yonsei University. In my presentation I talked about how service innovations are created and what makes them grow in global markets.

Many people start a new year by making new year’s resolutions, often to make a change and start a healthier life. At the same time, research shows that only a few of us are able to keep our new resolutions. Perhaps the best way is to go all in, and create a new habit that is done every day - a run streak. A run streak means running at least 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) or a minimum of 20 minutes every day for a set period of time, without fail, and has become a popular movement all over the world.

At an international conference in Djerba, Tunisia, our visiting PhD student José Pablo De la Rosa Gutiérrez won an award for his presentation on robotics programming. – Collaborative robots can be used in many ways, says Jorge Solis, Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering. Modern robotics, where collaboration between man and machine is governed through programming and gesture recognition, can be used in healthcare as well as in the manufacturing industries.

Günter Alce, who recently defended a licentiate thesis in Lund, held a seminar June 17, 2015. Günter and advisers at Sony Mobile and Lund University have developed the WozARd system and has received a couple of study visits from us earlier this academic year. In this seminar, Günter did not only speak about Wizard of Oz for development of Augmented Reality.

Anders Gustafsson, Professor of Business Administration at CTF, Service Research Center at Karlstad University, is the first European to be awarded the prestigious assignment as President of AMA Academic Council. Anders Gustafsson has been appointed President-Elect Designate of the AMA Academic Council. In this role, he is a member of the council's Executive Committee and is in line to serve as the first council president from outside of North America.

Christmas is around the corner and the year is drawing to a close, as I look back on an eventful year. I want to take this opportunity to give my warmest thanks to colleagues, partners, funders, and anyone who has contributed to or our research. I look forward to a new year of interesting research, courses and events. In 2022 we have managed to make the workplace vibrant and lively again, following the pandemic.
We offer a large number of courses, for students who want to try dancing full time and who want to mature as a dancer before embarking on a career, courses for less experienced dancers who want to try dance and courses for ordinary dancers who want to gain additional knowledge and experience. Studying dance at Karlstad University Students studying dance at Karlstad University work closely with enthusiastic teachers and receive personal coaching in small groups.
