“The foundation of Materials Engineering is to understand how the building blocks of materials, or their microstructures, interact on different length scales and result in different properties such as strength impact resistance, fatigue strength, abrasion resistance, electrical properties and corrosion resistance.” Mikael Grehk was born in Filipstad and grew up in Karlstad, where he graduated with an upper secondary school engineer degree from Älvkullegymnasiet.

Evelina Landstedt comes from a big family in Färila in Hälsingland, central Sweden. After completing the natural science programme in upper secondary school, she was the first in her family to go on to university studies. She took courses in the history of science and ideas, sociology and gender studies at Lund University.
Anders Hultqvist was born and raised in Småland. He managed his own press photography business, completed his military service at the Artillery Cadet and Aspirant School in Jönköping, served as an adviser on international law and reserve officer for just over 20 years, and worked as a police officer in Stockholm for five years. During his years in as a police officer Anders Hultqvist started studying law and obtained his degree in 1985.

Angela Caridà, research fellow at University Magna Graecia of Catanzaro, Italy, will be visiting CTF during the next three months. Angela Caridà have a Ph D in Economic and Management of Healthcare. Her main areas of interest are service innovation, interactive marketing and co-creation.

The research article “The role of perceived comprehension in idea evaluation" has been recognized as a top 20 most read article in Creativity and Innovation Management during 2017-2018. Amongst scientific articles published between January 2017 and December 2018 the article received some of the most downloads in the 12 months following online publication.

Bestoun S. Ahmed Al-Beywanee is originally from Iraq and was born in 1982. He has a bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering Science from 2004 and got a scholarship to finish his master's study at University Putra Malaysia 2007-2009. After his master degree Bestoun S. Ahmed Al-Beywanee moved on to a Ph.D. fellowship position at the University of Science Malaysia (2009-2012) in the field of Software engineering.

Businesses need service innovations to survive and strengthen their competitive advantage. By explaining how firms and key actors (such as entrepreneurs) manage to remain innovative, our research explains why innovation platforms are central. Empirical observations show that key actors or entrepreneurs often drive change in service ecosystems and the development of innovation platforms.

What are the reasons for managers to engage in servitization, and how do they justify their efforts within their organisations? To answer this question, we studied six different firms of various sizes, from 10 to 4000 employees. The firms were from different types of industries, although they were all manufacturing companies with a strong belief in services.

Where do you start with innovation? Typically, with a goal in sight – a pre-defined outcome. From here you can forecast what you need to get there; search for, select and invest in the most suitable skills, technology, and other types of resources in a step-by-step manner. This is a conventional causal decision-making style for firms. Conversely you can start with what you already have – existing means – and then creatively work out potential outcomes with these. This is bricolage.
