Rarely has our research on behavior change, service development, ecosystems and public services been as current, relevant and applicable as during this past year. The pandemic has significantly affected our lives and changed many behaviors with consequences for companies and the public sector, and for society and individuals as well. As one of Sweden's largest research centers, it is important to reflect on this.

The Holidays are approaching, and another research year is coming to an end. When I look back at 2018 I feel very proud.
During the year, we had five PhD defenses, which is eight in total if we also count 2017. It is a clear indication that CTF is an academic environment to count on. We have hosted several events, for example the Service-Dominant Logic Day, and the conferences: Nordic Relationship Dynamics and Service Convention Sweden 2018.

Over these decades, there has been a shift from thinking about service design as an expert-driven process focused on developing new service concepts to service design as a process of co-design that creates the conditions for value-in-use.

Having grown up near Karlstad University, Yvonne Liljekvist can practically see all the way “home” from her 5th-floor office in house 21. So it was only natural to get her bachelor’s degree in education with a specialisation in mathematics, science and technology in her hometown.
When I came to Karlstad University in august 2019, I had no idea how dynamic my sabbatical year as a guest researcher at CTF, Service Research Center, would become.

I am assistant professor of user-centered innovation at the faculty of Industrial Design Engineering of TU Delft, which started out as a traditional product design department, but by now conducts research and educates in design and innovation of products, services and systems.

CTF has together with Friskvården i Värmland conducted a study that have tested the feasibility and effectiveness of personalized digital coaching - an SMS-coach to help support individuals’ behavior and lifestyle changes.

Erik Wästlund was born and raised in Karlstad. He began his academic studies with social anthropology at the University of Gothenburg and then continued with psychology at Karlstad University.

The book "Stoppa matsvinnet! – en förpackad lösning" (unofficial translation: Stop Wasting Food — a Package Solution), written by Fredrik Wikström and Helén Williams, was named the winner in the Food, Climate and Environment category in the contest “Årets Svenska Måltidslitteratur 2022”.

- I´m visiting CTF today to develop two new research ideas. One with Bo Edvardsson and Lars Witell on Service Innovation: Are managers and academics on the same page. This is an initial study to explore if the demand and supply side of service innovation knowledge is working on the same issues.

Georg Gulyas was born in Säffle. His Hungarian father worked at the city library while his Finnish mother worked at the church daycare centre. He acquired his basic qualification in classical guitar from Malmö Academy of Music.
After completing his degree, he continued his studies at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, École Normale de Musique de Paris and Juilliard School in New York.
At the Naples Forum on Service June 6-9 in Sorrento Italy, Professor Bo Edvardsson received the 2017 Evert Gummesson Outstanding Research Award.
