The ICA Journalism Studies Division Book Award has been awarded to Henrik Örnebring and Michael Karlsson, both professors of media and communication science at Karlstad University, for their book “Journalistic Autonomy: The Genealogy of a Concept.”

Ida Flink was born and raised in Årjäng. After spending a few years abroad following graduation from upper secondary school, she moved to Örebro to enroll in the psychology programme. Immediately after graduation, she went on to doctoral studies at the same university, where the first two years were combined with the practical placement required to become a licenced psychologist.
Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University Stuttgart (Duale Hochschule Baden Württemberg in German and DHBW for short) visited us during a couple of days to discuss future Erasmus exchanges for our students studying ERP and Economy and Webb and Multimedia.

You are now back in Spain after spending four months at CTF. What were your expectations before you came here, and what have you achieved during your visit?
- My expectations before coming here were basically: learning new ways of working and presenting my research at an international level, deepening my dissertation research with the brilliant researchers of CTF, attending research courses, and trying to build partnerships for future research.
Our researchers and doctoral students are variously involved in disciplines such as business administration, psychology, computer science, information systems, environmental and energy systems, political science, religion sociology, mechanical engineering and materials engineering and industrial engineering and management.
There is a preconceived notion that working-class boys and men in rural areas are less keen and less qualified readers than other groups. Through his research, Stig-Börje Asplund, newly appointed professor of educational work, paints a more nuanced picture.
Stig-Börje Asplund’s research is interdisciplinary and his research interests include boys and men in rural areas and their relationship to reading.
