The teacher and musician Georg Gulyás teaches guitar, chamber music, and guitar methodology at the Ingesund School of Music. After his promotion, he can now call himself a professor. Georg Gulyás was born in Säffle, and his Hungarian father worked at the city’s library while his Finnish mother worked with the church’s children’s hours. His basic qualification in classical guitar is from the Malmö Academy of Music.

Fredrik Wikström is a newly appointed professor of Energy and Environmental Technology. He conducts research on how packaging can contribute to a sustainable development where less food is wasted. In recent years, this research has been praised and received attention in the media. Fredrik Wikström holds a Degree of Bachelor of Science in Physics at Uppsala University and received his PhD in Systems Ecology from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.

The last two weeks the CCS, Centre for Climate and Safety at Karlstad University has been visited by two experts on natural disaster modelling from the US Federal Emergency Management Agency, FEMA. The ICA Journalism Studies Division Book Award has been awarded to Henrik Örnebring and Michael Karlsson, both professors of media and communication science at Karlstad University, for their book “Journalistic Autonomy: The Genealogy of a Concept.” Additionally, their article titled “Recoding Journalism: Establishing Normative Dimensions for a Twenty-First Century News Media” has achieved success and received The Bob Franklin Journal Article Award.

What were your expectations before you came here, and what have you achieved during your visit? - My expectations before coming here were basically: learning new ways of working and presenting my research at an international level, deepening my dissertation research with the brilliant researchers of CTF, attending research courses, and trying to build partnerships for future research.

Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University Stuttgart (Duale Hochschule Baden Württemberg in German and DHBW for short) visited us during a couple of days to discuss future Erasmus exchanges for our students studying ERP and Economy and Webb and Multimedia. On the 24th and 25th of May professors Kai Holzweißig and Thomas Kessel from DHBW visited the Information System department to get acquainted with the department before future Erasmus exchanges.

Javid Taheri has been promoted to a professor. Through his promotion, Computer Science acquires even more scientific competence in cloud computing. Javid’s field of research includes, among other things, fog computing that is the next big paradigm in the computing world.
