We have now published our annual report for 2020. In the report, we summarize the past year and share highlights of our research and collaboration with partners from academia, business and the public sector.
2020 was a different and challenging year marked by the corona pandemic. Despite the challenges with restrictions and new routines, we managed to perform at a continuously high level and drive research forward.

Jenny Karlsson and Peter Samuelsson, both PhD students at CTF, Service Research Center at Karlstad University, Sweden, participated in the AMA Servsig doctoral consortium preceding the 2017 Frontiers in Service Conference held in June 21-22 at Fordham University, New York. We recently caught up with Jenny and Peter and asked them to tell us about the consortium.

- I will spend four months as Visiting Professor at The Center for Service Leadership. I will meet and work with Professors Mary Jo Bitner och Amy Ostrom.

After 15 years at Stellenbosch University in South Africa, Annika Rudman chose Karlstad University as her new base.
– I chose Karlstad since I, just like the university, believe in and want to promote internationalisation and interdisciplinary research, says Annika Rudman, new professor of gender studies.
The common denominator of Annika Rudman’s research is a keen interest in the role that gender plays in relation to law, society, politics, culture and human behaviour.

Johan Samuelsson grew up on a farm outside of Mariestad in Västergötland. In the mid 1990-s, he graduated with a teacher education degree from Karlstad University with a specialisation in history and religious studies.
Marcus Berg is originally from Umeå, where he also majored in Physics before enrolling as a PhD student at the University of Texas at Austin, which at the time was the biggest university in the U.S. in terms of student numbers, and, not least, had two Nobel Prize laureates in the physics department.
We welcome Martina Caic, new postdoctoral researcher at CTF. During the next two years, she will, among other things, conduct research on how new technologies affects value co-creation within different networks of actors.
Martina Caic holds a PhD from Maastricht University, the Netherlands, where she was a Marie Curie Fellow within the EU-funded project Service Design for Innovation Network, SDIN. The SDIN project was funded by Horizon 2020 during 2015-2018.
”Some of our biggest challenges are digitalisation, sustainability and innovation. I believe that my research will encompass these three concepts and show how innovation and digitalisation enable sustainability.”

In 2023, Ingesund School of Music recruited a professor in music education. Her curiosity in improvised music has been a driving force and inspiration since childhood. Something which she is happy to share with future music teachers. Her name is Guro Gravem Johansen.
