Improved Methods for Process and Quality Controls using Digital Tools
This project is a collaboration between three leading academic groups at Karlstad University (KaU) and five Swedish industrial partners.
The climate is changing. This poses severe risks to humans, societies, and ecosystems on which human well-being depends. Sweden is one of the countries described as a frontrunner in meeting the challenges of climate change. In addition to reducing human influence on the climate, these challenges also include climate change adaptation. However, even Sweden’s responses to these challenges are described as deficient in both rankings and research.

The project aims to contribute to the strengthening of regional innovation systems in Värmland, in relation to the transition to a forest-based sustainable bioeconomy.
The project explores what it means for a region to transit towards a bio-economy, and the processes through which regional actors build and implement such transition.

At Karlstad University we see the whole person. This is true of both education and research in the field of health, care and social work and it contributes to the quality of the students professional training.
Health, care and social work belong to a broad professional area in which the need for collaboration between different organisations is increasing. Also, there are more actors in this arena, in Sweden and abroad.

The Cultural Practice of Immigrant Filmmaking

Immigration to Sweden increased during the 1970s, and many of them were forced into exile. Some of them already were established filmmakers, others were amateurs, albeit with an interest in film. What united them was that they were all strangers in Sweden and that they tried to find their way in a new cultural situation.

In this follow-up study, we explore the practice architectures that enable and constrain the realisation of sustainable school development with a focus on the role and function of change agents in schools as organisations. In municipalities, the change agents go by names such as development leaders, teacher leaders, process leaders, middle leaders, etc. Their function can be broadly described as acting as pedagogical leaders with the task of promoting and driving school development.
Our task is to generate knowledge and promote learning. Learning processes often connect research with teaching and collaboration. This may take the form of inviting community actors as lecturers, or through research projects connected to university courses.
Our research questions are closely connected to processes, vulnerabilities and capacities of society. Partnerships with representatives from state agencies, business and municipalities form a natural and important part of our activities.
