"The Swedish Diva Brand: Transatlantic performances of hegemonic whiteness and national identity"
This lecture is a presentation of my postdoctoral project, which is a study with intersectional overlaps of race, sexuality, class and symbolic embodiment of the Swedish nation on stage, film and in public life in the United States and in Sweden 1850–1990.

- I was Visiting Professor at University of Canterbury. This was in the context of an international teacher and researcher exchange funded by the Erskine Programme.

Carbon based nano materials such as graphene and carbon nanotubes were predicted a brilliant future when they were discovered. But quality problems curb the development of new products. The problem is that it is difficult to analyse the crystal structure and there are no established standard methods for classifying the materials.

Denna panel syftar till att undersöka hur jämställdhetsintegrering fungerar som en strategi i akademin - en strategi där jämställdhet ses som en integrerad del av kärnområden såsom forskning och utbildning, men också bör utföras av befintliga medarbetare i linjeorganisationen. Sedan 2016 har många lärosäten blivit ålagda att arbeta med jämställdhetsintegrering via regleringsbrev.
Karlstad University and Deutsche Telekom are collaborating on a project intended to improve the internet connection for users. The goal is for the technology to be incorporated into every mobile phone within five years.
Mobile phones use 4G, 5G, and Wi-Fi to access the internet. The project called MultiAccess will tie them together in a flexible way and thus improve the connection.

Karlstad University receives grant of 2 million SEK from the Knowledge Foundation to develop a high in-demand Master’s programme in data-driven mechanical engineering.
- There is an increasing demand for this type of programme, says Anton Tkachuk, Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering and project manager in the development of the Master’s programme. The challenge is to create a degree programme that addresses areas such as data-driven approach and digitalisation tools.

The teacher and musician Georg Gulyás teaches guitar, chamber music, and guitar methodology at the Ingesund School of Music. After his promotion, he can now call himself a professor.
Georg Gulyás was born in Säffle, and his Hungarian father worked at the city’s library while his Finnish mother worked with the church’s children’s hours. His basic qualification in classical guitar is from the Malmö Academy of Music.

The conference Cellulose Workshop, an international workshop focused on cellulose research, has been organised for the eleventh time. The 11th Workshop on Cellulose, Regenerated Cellulose, and Cellulose Derivatives gathered participants from 10 countries to learn about the latest research findings in the field.

The anonymity network Tor, used daily by millions of users around the world, is important for people in vulnerable situations, for instance in order to avoid surveillance or control. Two Karlstad University researchers have now identified flaws in Tor’s anonymity function and contributed to technologies that make the network safer for users.
The purpose of Tor is to allow users to surf the internet anonymously without information about visited webpages being registered.

At his inaugural lecture as associate professor on 5 April, Sebastian Herold described his software development research and the challenges faced in this area.
“When you build a house you have a plan and the builders follow acknowledged building practices. This is less standardized in software engineering,” says Sebastian Herold, the latest associate professor in Computer Science.

During the winter and spring, a new graphical user interface for the web-based Ozlab have been launched. The new user interface allows the ‘wizard’ to build the shell more easily and Ozlab is also easier to manoeuvre in the ‘test runner mode’.
“Our research is on how side streams from the paper industry in particular can be used as raw material in various processes. The aim is to create new materials and products from what used to be seen as waste.”
Karin Granström grew up in Trelleborg and studied at the Faculty of Engineering, LTH, in Lund from 1993 to 1998 to earn a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering.
