The Trans Studies Research Residency programme started in February 2017 as an initiative of the Trans Studies research group working at the Centre for Gender Studies. The aim is to create an inspiring space for collaboration between trans scholars as well as offer much needed time for focusing on research and writing. The residency will take place for the fourth time in spring 2019.
This is a course on value creating processes, interaction and communication facilitating increased understanding of the customer. This page is under construction.
COURSE CONTENT
The aim of the course is to acquire increased knowledge and understanding of value creation processes through various methods with a focus on customer journeys.
Our researchers and doctoral students are variously involved in disciplines such as business administration, psychology, computer science, information systems, environmental and energy systems, political science, religion sociology, mechanical engineering and materials engineering and industrial engineering and management.

Our research embraces both traditional areas of e-services and new phenomena related to information system research, including strategies and business processes at the organizational level and individual-level usability and privacy.
Much of our research revolves around various aspects of e-services. E-services have the ability to increase organizational efficiency, reduce costs, attract new customers and improve customer service in both private and public organizations.

Human geography research has been conducted at Karlstad University for the past 40 years, initially focusing on issues of local and regional development, tourism and landscape studies. As the subject and its research have grown, new research directions and themes have emerged alongside the already established ones.
There is a relatively large group of people from Germany and the Netherlands who have chosen to move to Scandinavia. There are several reasons behind the move from urban, densely populated areas in their home countries to the quiet countryside in middle of nowhere. Previous research has primarily described this as a desire to make a lifestyle change, from stressful urban life to the tranquillity of the countryside.

On October 21, CTF, Service Research Center at Karlstad University hosted the ninth annual scientific conference, gathering Swedish transport researchers around issues concerning the Swedish transport system. This year’s conference was held virtually via zoom.

We caught up with Professor Michael Kleinaltenkamp, Freie Universität Berlin, Germany, who is visiting CTF March 26-29. During this time he will present one of his current research projects at an open CTF seminar and work on a joint research project with Professor Bo Edvardsson and Ph.
In the beginning of the new year 2015, the usability lab was visited by Jenny Friedl and Lars Eriksson from the Psychology department at Karlstad University. Discussions about collaboration between Psychology and Information Systems in course assignments and students' project works. Swedish pupils need support to fully understand what they read online. They often have great knowledge and abilities, but must be given tools to interpret texts in a digital environment. These are the findings of new research at Karlstad University.

Zelalem Abay, tell us about your background
– I was born and raised in Ethiopia. In 2014, I came to Sweden to study my Master’s degree in Accounting and Control at Karlstad Business School. Before that I completed Master’s degree in Accounting and Finance at Addis Ababa University and worked as a University Lecturer in Ethiopia. I completed my PhD study from Gothenburg University in 2022 and subsequently joined Mälardalen University as Senior Lecturer.

Registration is now open for courses in digitalisation, customer journey and idea management, two of which are offered for the first time. The courses will start at the end of January and registration is open until 18 January.

PhD studies in English may be pursued with a specialisation in linguistics or literature, and admitted PhD candidates have the opportunity to design their dissertation projects within either of these subject areas. Thirteen PhD degrees have been awarded since 1999, when English was approved as a doctoral discipline.
The PhD programme in English is largely designed individually.

Comparative Literature in Karlstad has a focus on various forms of boundary-crossing in terms of theme, content and interdisciplinarity, for instance. Through traditional literary history studies students learn what borders the modern (1850–1950) and postmodern authors transgress.
This subproject, "Migration and Transformation of Powerful Knowledge", addresses one of the major social issues of today - migration and cultural encounters. Like the other subprojects in ROSE, this project centres on practice-oriented matters.
