Research is pursued by doctoral students and lecturers, individually and in various projects and areas. Disciplinary research has a focus on boundary-crossing in terms of theme, content and interdisciplinarity, for instance, and many of the individual projects are linked to this field. All the researchers are also members of the Culture Studies Research Group (KuFo).
Kufos research seminar series is open to anyone interested and takes place once a month.

Autumn 2014 students Marcus Nygren (study programme IT-Design) and Jonatan Lidholm (Webb and Multimedia) had their internships at Karlstad University's usability lab. During their internship they have further developed a few functions in the web-based Ozlab system which will facilitate the work of future Ozlab wizards.

Günter Alce, PhD student at Lund University, who gave a presentation in Karlstad in the beginning of the summer about his extraordinary combination of Wizard-of-Oz technique, Augmented Reality, and Virtual Reality, received Professor John Sören Pettersson when he was visitng Lund on Spetember 22.

Bridget Kane, PhD, has pursued research within Health Informatics and CSCW at Trinity College and St. James Hospital in Dublin. During the spring 2016 she will help students who write HCI theses in English. She will also contribute to the master course Models and Methods for Multimedia Development. She has a post-graduate diploma in Statistics and will assist in the research education during this spring.

Congratulations Diana von Börtzell-Szuch, you have been awarded Mensa Fund Grants 2023. Tell us a bit more about what it is and what you will be doing.
Thank you! I am so happy that my Ph.D. project has been funded.The various Mensa associations in Denmark, Norway, Finland and Sweden together distribute funds each year through the Nordic Mensa Foundation for research into various aspects on different aspects of intelligence.

Having grown up near Karlstad University, Yvonne Liljekvist can practically see all the way “home” from her 5th-floor office in house 21. So it was only natural to get her bachelor’s degree in education with a specialisation in mathematics, science and technology in her hometown.
Alexandre Sukhov is awarded the IMIT scholarship 2020, for his doctoral thesis "The human side of idea screening" and receives SEK 25,000.
