- My expectations before coming here were basically: learning new ways of working and presenting my research at an international level, deepening my dissertation research with the brilliant researchers of CTF, attending research courses, and trying to build partnerships for future research.

On 25–27 August, twelve doctoral students embarked on an international research programme as part of the European network Privacy&Us at Karlstad University.

Ida Flink was born and raised in Årjäng. After spending a few years abroad following graduation from upper secondary school, she moved to Örebro to enroll in the psychology programme. Immediately after graduation, she went on to doctoral studies at the same university, where the first two years were combined with the practical placement required to become a licenced psychologist.

RiskLab® is CSR’s primary platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience regarding societal risks and serves as an infrastructure for research on pedagogical methods related to societal risks. The concept includes pedagogical tools, methods and exercises that can be used to spark interest, share knowledge and support learning about societal risks. Through RiskLab®, CSR utilises the power of the creative meeting for learning and problem-solving.

The advanced Nvivo workshops presupposes a general understanding of the software. More specifically participants should be familiar with how to set up projects in Nvivo, how to import data, how to use different basic features such as memos, maps and folders, as well as understand the basics of how to work with coding and cases. All of this is covered in the introductory workshops. Additionally, the advanced workshops may also require a coded dataset.
Physics is one of the first research subjects for doctoral studies at Karlstad University. The first dissertation in physics took place in 2012. Since then, about twenty doctors in physics have graduated.
Recently, Amal Nammouchi, a doctoral student in Computer Science, participated in the winning team during AI meets climate: MIT Energy and Climate Hack.
Hundreds of students from around the world gathered both on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s campus and virtually for the event held in Massachusetts, USA.
All doctoral students are appointed at least two supervisors in connection with their admission to the doctoral programme who will provide help and support during the education period up to the thesis defence and graduation.

New doctoral students shall be appointed a main supervisor and at least one assistant supervisor and at least one of them must have completed supervisor training.
On December 9-13, CTF, Service Research Center at Karlstad University will host a multi-disciplinary seminar series consisting of five talks on Service System Transformation, in which researchers from different perspectives and approaches within service research will illuminate the research area.
The seminars will focus on global societal challenges and how transformation within social systems works.

From this autumn, Karlstad University is offering a new three-year study programme in computer science for those who like IT and programming, but who are not interested in studying physics, electronics or a lot of mathematics.
