On November 7-8, Karlstad University hosted the inaugural Security Divas Sweden, a national conference focusing on cybersecurity and information security that aims to spotlight women in these fields. Solar cell researchers from Karlstad University have once again conducted experiments in zero gravity during parabolic flights in Bordeaux, France. The aim is to study how the structure of the active layer of the polymer solar cell is formed, to thereby be able to increase its efficiency. – This is the second time we have conducted experiments during parabolic flights, says Jan van Stam, Professor of Physical Chemistry at Karlstad University.

This fall, CTF, Service Research Center at Karlstad University, will offer four online courses in Service Innovation. The courses are based on CTFs world-leading research in the field and are intended for professionals working with or having an interest in service, customer experiences and business development. All that is required to participate is a computer and an internet connection. The approach of the courses is flexible and consists among others of short video lectures and group work.
Music Ecosystems Inner Scandinavia (EU/Interreg Sweden-Norway, 2018-21) is a cross-disciplinary, collaborative research project that wants to understand how digital technology, in relation to other societal trends and social structures, configures music usage and experiences. How do different user groups, with varying social demographic backgrounds, navigate in the new digital musical landscape? To what extent do different user groups “master” trans- and geomedial music experiences?

Two new Honorary Doctors have been appointed at Karlstad University in 2024. They specialize in the fields of hydropower environmental issues and psychology. The award ceremony will take place during the Academic Celebration on October 18. The Faculty of Health, Science, and Engineering has appointed Johan Tielman as Honorary Doctor in 2024.

New research at Karlstad University shows that "boyish" play behavior at the age of 7 can be linked to both behavioral problems and autistic traits. In a study that includes 718 children, researchers from Karlstad University and Uppsala University have identified clear connections between gender-role-related play and the development of behavioral challenges.
