Karlstad University and Deutsche Telekom are collaborating on a project intended to improve the internet connection for users. The goal is for the technology to be incorporated into every mobile phone within five years.
Mobile phones use 4G, 5G, and Wi-Fi to access the internet. The project called MultiAccess will tie them together in a flexible way and thus improve the connection.
Erica Sandlund (project leader), professor of English linguistics. Her research centers on social interaction, particularly institutional talk such as higher education seminars, multilingual classrooms, organizational meetings, performance appraisal interviews, second language speaking tests, and news interviews.
Committed to excellence in computer networking, security and privacy, and software engineering
Computer Science is the study of both the theorethical and the practical aspects of software development. In Karlstad, the education as well as the research are mainly focused on computer networking, privacy and security and software engineering.

How should research and innovation for a green transition based on the forest as a common resource be promoted? This is the starting-point for the three-year Interreg project ”Innovation for green transition in the forest”, a cooperation project between Karlstad University, Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences and a number of other partners.
Renewable materials and biomass should be used sustainably in a circular cycle to guarantee supply, regional development and growth in the area.
Our firm belief is that long life-time of products is guaranteed by defect free manufacturing and advanced microstructure control in the production. One of the most important parameters for advanced steels are their mechanical properties in terms of wear resistance at different temperature, fatigue properties, tensile and fracture toughness.
In a new three-year project, researchers at CTF, Service Research Center at Karlstad University, will develop new knowledge about elderly's travel habits. The purpose is to map factors that may be important for changed behavior and more sustainable travel habits among the elderly.

Geomedia Speaker Series presents a digital seminar
Spatial Justice and Data Justice
February 24
13.00-15.00 local time (Sweden) - (1-3 pm CET)
This seminar explores the ways in which digital technologies and datafication shape and produce new forms of inequalities globally and locally. While much of the research literature discusses datafication in the context of the industrial West, in recent years, more and more focus has been paid to Global South.
In the Geomedia podcast you will hear discussions and interviews with current researchers, visiting speakers, and invited guests on issues relating to this emerging discipline.
The scientific article “Harnessing the creative potential among users” about customer involvement, written by researchers at CTF, Service Research Center at Karlstad University, has been appointed an “Innovation Classic” by the highly ranked scientific journal, Journal of Product Innovation Management.

During the upcoming Olympic Games, athletes from all over the world gather after years of preparation to perform their lifetime results. However, burnout among athletes is a growing problem, not least at the elite level. A new article by three researchers clarifies the causes of this, consequences, and how to prevent burnout.
Several studies have shown that burnout appears when an athlete feels physically tired and emotionally drained by their training and competing.
The ambition of earlier strategies has mainly been to promote collaboration between the subject of History and other disciplines at doctoral level, locally at Karlstad University as well as nationally and internationally. This is still centrally important for the subject. The research profile of the subject comprises two main specialisations, channeled primarily through research conducted at The Centre for Regional Studies (CRS) and The Centre for Social Science Education (CSD), respectively.
