In 2016, Karlstad University was given the right to issue a Degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts at Ingesund School of Music. The experiences gained from that application process were then utilised in a new application for a Degree of Master of Fine Arts, which was submitted to the Swedish Higher Education Authority, UKÄ. The application has now been approved and Ingesund School of Music can issue a master’s degree.

The complex global issues that the researchers in ROSE are examining, are interdisciplinary and bring different forms of specialised knowledge of various subjects to the fore. For example, this could be about digitisation, Anthropocene* or migration.

Earlier this year he received the sports leadership scholarship Karlstad Grand Prix Award, established by Karlstad University and the Karlstad Municipality. After 40 years as a professional coach with the entire world as his workplace, Svennis returned to Värmland in 2022.

Anders Gustafsson has been appointed President-Elect Designate of the AMA Academic Council. In this role, he is a member of the council's Executive Committee and is in line to serve as the first council president from outside of North America.

Week 43 coincides with both UNESCO’s Global MIL Week and SPARC’s Open Access Week. To highlight this, the University Library is organising three events. Two of them require registration, one by 17 October and one by 20 October at the latest. First up is a film screening followed by a talk with the director, in the afternoon Tuesday 24 October. The film will be shown at Filmstaden in central Karlstad and is organised together with Region Värmland.

Researchers from Karlstad University explored how generative AI search engines, such as Microsoft Copilot, are transforming political news retrieval - and with it, the global flow of information. The study "Sourcing behavior and the role of news media in AI-powered search engines in the digital media ecosystem: Comparing political news retrieval across five languages" was published in the journal Telecommunications Policy and is co-authored by Professor Cornelia Bra
