Samhällsnytta turns service research into practical activity. The idea is to help the government and Swedish authorities tackle major societal challenges.
Samhällsnytta AB was founded in 2021 and has developed into a national meeting place for actors at various levels in community building.

Karlstad University is currently dealing with a situation that has received a lot of media attention. It is, of course, in the interest of the university to ensure a safe environment for our teachers and students, but any measure we take must comply with our regulations.
In brief, the situation involves an online activist with an explicitly right-wing nationalist agenda who has been admitted to a course in intercultural studies with a focus on racism.

Since the last meeting, we have had three ministers visiting our university or planning to visit us, we have welcomed an astronaut, 2,500 upper-secondary school pupils, met with the Ministry of Education and Research, organised one of Sweden’s largest job fairs and, of course, many other exciting activities as well.

Martin Ljungdahl presents results from a research project conducted jointly by University Väst and Konstfack (after defending his Magister thesis 1PM about the development method in this project).
The research project is about the effects of a sound system where unwanted sounds a reduced and "good" sounds from the environment is enhanced by digital technology.

Last week CTF, Service Research Center at Karlstad University, together with Experio Lab, hosted a consortium meeting in Karlstad within the European research training network SDIN.
In addition to supervision of the doctoral candidates associated with SDIN, and a board meeting, a public conference was arranged with the intention to disseminate some of the research conducted within the project.

The fifth edition of Karlstad programming contest is arranged at 8 October by Computer Science at Karlstad University. The contest is part of the Nordic championship, Nordic Collegiate Programming Contest.
The contest takes place in teams with up to 3 persons who shall solve a dozen tasks with programming in C, C++, C#, Go, Java, Objective-C or Python.

How does organic, small-scale food production relate to the preservation of our biocultural heritage? Is the biocultural heritage an obstacle or an opportunity? What affects the conditions to run small-scale, local food production?
There are two degree pathways at master level: Master of Arts Degree 60 ECTS credits (one year) or 120 ECTS credits (two years). Both provide ample introduction to the basics of research through courses and academic writing opportunities. The 60-credit Master gives eligibility to doctoral studies at Karlstad University and at other universities in Sweden, while the 120-credit Master is a concluding professional education in comparative literature.
