The research project on society-centred industry 5.0 – headed by Jorge Solis – has been selected for the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences’ (IVA) 100 List of 2024. This is one of the three generic areas at Ingesund School of Music (MHI).   At MHI, rhythmic and improvised music corresponds to styles previously known as under the umbrella terms Afro-American Tradition or Jazz. At many other Nordic music schools, these styles are simply known as rhythmic music.

In a new doctoral thesis from CTF, Pernille K Andersson is investigating how the servicescape is changed by the influence of music, self-disclosure, and eye gaze on service encounter experience and approach avoidance behavior. - Our feelings and behavior are continuously affected by our surroundings. Stores have servicescapes which have a big influence on customer’s experiences and purchase decisions, says Pernille K Andersson.
I was recently invited to the subject meeting in Business Administration to speak about AI in teaching and assessment. Colleagues wanted to hear more about the discussions taking place at management level, at the Swedish Higher Education Authority, and within the Ministry of Education. They were curious about the expectations industry has of newly graduated students.

The company Askås introduced itself to around 70 IT students at Karlstad University during a Snits lunch on 21 February. Peter Smersfeldt, HR director and in charge of customer services gave a talk about the company, its e-commerce system and the underlying technology. Askås celebrates a 20-year anniversary in 2017. Twenty years ago the entrepreneur Jonas Askås started to develop an e-commerce system to sell bicycle components.
What kind of support do people with acquired brain injury and their kin receive from healthcare social workers? And how do they experience that support? These are the main questions in doctoral student Monika Högsnes’ licentiate thesis at the CRS Research School in Sustainable Societal Transformation. Monika Högsnes is a social worker with a Master’s degree in Social Work. She began her doctoral studies at Karlstad University in spring 2022.
