You will meet Kristin Baja, Climate and Resilience Planner at the Baltimore Office of Sustainability. A European innovation project involving researchers from Karlstad University will create a new platform for enhancing privacy in data analysis.

On November 6-8 researchers from Karlstad University presented several papers connected to 5G and future network architecture. The rapid digitization we are experiencing right now demands extreme capacity from communication networks and to meet these demands new and more automated and flexible network architectures are needed. Expanding and implementing new functions and services for current networks is often expensive and demands a lot of resources.

Current initiatives in intersectionality theory relating to indigenous studies (Olsen 2018) as well as ethnic studies (Carlsson 2020) argue that the starting point for such intersectional approaches are ‘the margins rather than the centre’ (Olsen 2018). This is especially important progress in the Nordic context for furthering a decolonial research agenda.

Värmland has received stricter general guidelines and Karlstad University is adapting teaching and research accordingly. In line with this, all activities will as far as possible take place remotely. A vice-chancellor’s decision was made on Monday following the new stricter general guidelines for Värmland County from the Public Health Agency. Karlstad University is taking its responsibility to help reduce the spread of infection.

On 8 October the fifth edition of the Karlstad Programming Contest took place. The event is organised by Computer Science at Karlstad University. A record number of teams participated and tried to solve difficult programming tasks. The Karlstad Programming Contest is a leg of the Nordic Collegiate Programming Contest (NCPC), which takes place simultaneously at 19 Nordic universities and university colleges.
