At the end of the spring term, Karlstad Student Union took the opportunity to surprise some members of the teaching staff that students wished to pay special tribute to. "Celebrate a teacher" was the name of the campaign running during the spring semester and on 19 June the result was announced on the student union Instagram. Individual students as well as societies had been invited to nominate candidates via videos published on the student union Instagram.

For the second year runnig, Karlstad hosted the Bioeconomy Day on March 21-22. Leading industry and organisations, key stakeholders and policy makers from Sweden and Norway gathered. Researchers from CRS, Karlstad University, were also among the participants. This year's Bioeconomy Day contained a mix of seminars, discussions and conversations between expertise from industry and politicians at all levels.
At Karlstad University the subject English can be studied at all university levels, and can be the main field of study for a Bachelor’s degree, a Master’ degree (60 or 120 ECTS credits) and a Doctor’s degree. English is also included or can be included in all the current teacher degrees.

Digital examinations are a part of a number of courses at Karlstad University. You will receive more information from teaching staff if your courses are examined digitally. Students complete digital exams on their own computers, or on computers borrowed for this purpose. As a student, you are responsible for preparing for writing a digital exam. For a short period, we will have 2 different systems in which we will do digital exams.

Rasmus Dahlberg, a computer engineering student at Karlstad University, had a summer job at the university a few months ago. This has now led to his participation in an international conference on secure IT systems. During the summer of 2016, Rasmus worked as assistant in HITS, High Quality Networked Services in a Mobile World, a project conducted by Computer Science at Karlstad University.

From 1 January 2017, Reine Lundin has been the new Dean of the Faculty of Health, Science and Technology at Karlstad University, and has subsequently also taken the role as chairperson of the management group for the research profile HITS (high-quality network services in a mobile world). Together with five Swedish industrial companies and funded by the Knowledge Foundation Computer Science at Karlstad University continues developing the HITS research profile.
