– My research is about understanding a relatively new actor in entrepreneurial ecosystems called venture builders and how they can be understood in a larger context.

In the first study of its kind, researchers from Karlstad University, Sweden and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, USA, found an elevated rate of language delay in girls at 30 months old born to mothers who used acetaminophen during pregnancy, but not in boys. The study was published online January 10 in European Psychiatry.
The Swedish Environmental Longitudinal, Mother and Child, Asthma and Allergy study (SELMA) provided data for the research.

Jasper, you are a senior lecturer in Information Systems at Karlstad Business School and the Service Research Center, CTF. What did you do before you came to Karlstad University?
- I was a senior lecturer in user-centred design at the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands.
Did you receive an email from an open access publisher who wonders if you want to publish with them? It may seem flattering, but you should be on your guard. Trustworthy publishers do not usually approach you like that, there are some rogue publishers that exploit the open access business model.
Most commonly the so called predatory publishers will charge for the publication while trying to maximize profits by keeping costs down and to publish large volumes.
Associate professor Lothar Fritsch (Karlstad University) will hold a tutorial on privacy compliance at the ImperialCollege in London.
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into effect in May 2018 and will introduce a regulatory framework of new data protection rights for EU citizens. This one-day conference is tailored towards higher education professionals.

Reglab is a meeting place for regions, authorities, researchers and others to deepen the knowledge of regional development issues. Reglab includes 21 regions, Vinnova, the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions, and the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth.

Lamps that are switched on and off via an app, garbage cans that signal when it is time to be emptied and children who are tracked via watches. These are all examples of smart units gaining more ground in our everyday lives. Participants in the SNITS lunch on 6 November learned more about the Internet of Things and the technology behind it.
The Internet of Things refers to devices that are not traditionally networked, such as watches, toys and machines.
